Doula Experiences

Hello! I was wondering if people wouldn’t mind sharing their experiences of working with a doula?

I love the idea, especially as a first time mum who wants a natural birth, but worry I’m just getting caught up in something that’s becoming more popular.

Thanks! 🙏🏼

I had a doula as things went wrong with my first pregnancy and I lost trust in the NHS. So for my firstborn I got one, my husband was against the idea, he now tells everyone to have one. It helped us prepare and have someone protecting our bubble and interests.

I 10000000% recommend a doula! With the way the NHS is currently working, it’s great to have someone with knowledge to advocate for you 🫶

Dropped?

Do we think my bump is looking low? My latest midwife appointment I was told baby girl is 4/5 engaged (37+1) , I’m now 37+4 but I’m feeling a lot of movement way down below as well as a lot of pressure.

How do you manage nausea?

I'm really struggling at the moment. I feel sick pretty much all day, and even the smell or sight of food is making me feel queasy.
The strange thing is that I'm absolutely starving, but as soon as I put food on my plate or try to eat, I just can't face it.
It will be only 7 weeks day after tomorrow, and the last 3–4 days have been especially tough. Has anyone else experienced nausea this intensely in the first trimester? If so, what helped you manage it?
I literally ate just dry brown bread and plain rice without anything as I couldn't hold hunger. 🥺
I'd really appreciate any tips or advice. ❤️

Colostrum

I’m 38 weeks today and haven been harvesting colostrum for 2 weeks. It used to be thick and yellow and today it’s turned to watery! Anyone had similar?

Measuring big

Is anybody else measuring big at 28-29 weeks? I had my 28 week midwife appointment today (I’m 28+4) and measuring between the 90th and 97th centile and now I’m really panicking!

I had growth scans with my daughter and always measured small so I’m not used to measuring big and the unknown!

I’m hoping for a VBAC but I’m not sure I can birth a 9-10lb baby vaginally!!

So I'll be 33 weeks in three days and I have dropped soooo low I had an ultrasound today and they had such a hard time with it from how low she is. I go pretty much every week from here on out because I have HG really bad so I'm under extra watch because they thought it was going to end up hurting my baby turns out she's actually great and weights a little more then the average at this point and is super tall lol. I'll be 37 weeks July 2end but my ob told me to take it easy the next couple weeks she doesn't think I'm gonna go past 38 weeks she said goal is to make it through June ☠️ butttt during my scans today they did do the breathing test and stuff and said she is doing really really good so if she happens to come before July that I shouldn't worry much sense she's already passing all there test and stuff. So um guess I'm going to go pack our hospital bags this week just in case lol
