Hi All,
Has anyone had gastric sleeve and gone on to have a healthy pregnancy?
I’m currently 35, was sleeved 3 years ago and am just over 4 weeks pregnant. I am concerned that Bub won’t get the nutrients it needs to grow and develop properly.
I am taking prenatal vitamins however I have been in a deficit in nutrients for the past 2 years even with multivitamins amd following dietitian’s instructions and have required multiple infusions and injections for various vitamins and minerals.

Have you registered the pregnancy? I don't have a sleeve so no first hand experience I'm afraid but I'm diabetic and was placed under a specific midwifery team and had additional scans etc so you may be offered something like that? I'm sure you have already but I'd say the best thing to do is to contact them and try to have an appointment to talk it over directly but it sounds like you're doing a load of great things! Congratulations and good luck x

I've had a gastric bypass. My doctors kept check of my vitamin levels during pregnancy amd taking my usual vitamin tablets was fine. Only extra I needed was a higher folic acid tablet as advised by the bariatric surgery team. X

I had gastric bypass in 2019 and full skin removal in late 2020. Had my first kiddo in 2023. Only thing I needed to add vitamin-wise was DHA (my bariatric vitamins covered the stuff in the prenatal otherwise). Baby was 6 weeks early but otherwise healthy. Best they can figure is that it was because of my skin removal surgery - skin was so tight I never really showed so my water broke prematurely since she had nowhere to go. Struggled with anemia ever since surgery so 2nd baby in 2025 I got iron infusions during pregnancy and then after delivery. 3rd baby now my iron is okay for a normal person but a little low for bariatric so they're just going to top me off again after baby is here.
I gained 22lbs with first baby, lost 9, gained 7 with 2nd baby, lost 3, gained 1 so far with #3 (currently 30 weeks).
Hardest part is actually once baby comes and remembering/finding time to properly meal plan and eat. I found myself a few times almost passing out because I wasn't prioritizing myself
I’ve been having iron infusions for years. I’m currently borderline needing another already and my last was in January.
I already forget to eat so have been having to set reminders to eat and plan meals.
