I wasnt offered any test for it (27w so far), while other mums to be I know have been tested… does it only apply to some specific cases?

Yes, its in specific circumstances. Its not offered to everyone. Some examples, high bmi, family history, is why a midwife would refer the test

I got it offered and understood it's done by default

There are certain risk factors that make you eligible for the glucose test and usually you won’t be offered one unless you have them or symptoms. I didn’t have any of the risk factors but was feeling really unwell and I had high sugar levels in my urine at my 28 week appointment so I was offered it then x

You can look up the risk factors, that’s the only people they test other than those whose babies seem LGA or return positive urine tests x
