C-section under general anaesthetic

Im pregnant with my third baby and have a c-section booked in for the 8th of September.

I’ve had two emergency c-sections before and now I’m dreading another one.

I have been researching and you can be put under for a c-section. Has anyone done this and can share their experience please.

This is not usually done unless in the case of an absolute emergency or very exceptional medical circumstances. There are increased risks to you and to baby, you'll need a breathing tube and to recover after surgery. You'll be asleep and so won't be able to have that golden hour with baby. Baby might be sleepy when they come out due to the anaesthetic drugs and this can interfere with feeding in the early hours. It's a delicate risk/benefit balance to make.

A planned c section is a very different experience to an emergency and most people say they are calm and up beat and they cope well in comparison to previous traumatic births. It's a conversation worth having at your next midwife appointment.

I was for my first but not through choice they had to get my baby out in 3 minutes and the quickest way was putting me to sleep. Honestly I have trauma from it I hate that I didn’t meet her for an hour after, I didn’t get that euphoric moment and maybe because it was all chaotic I didn’t feel an instant bond so much so I accused them of giving me the wrong baby 🥴

I had an elected for my second and it kinda healed but also gave me guilt that I had such a special moment with my youngest I didn’t get with my eldest. However mine wasn’t a planned GA so probably be completely different being planned.

I've had both. Planned is much more controlled and relaxed. It's a beautiful experience, I wouldn't want to be asleep either way. But understand you have your reasons.

How are we dealing with the exhaustion?!

How are we all dealing with the exhaustion??? Baby is 7weeks old and I feel I haven't had a full night sleep in months (which is technically true as I didn't sleep great in the third trimester).

Baby boy does to a chunk of sleep most nights from around 9/10 - 2/2:30 but then can be really unsettled after 3. I know I'm lucky that he does a chunk of sleep but I'm sick of people telling me that because I still feel absolutely wrecked from tiredness!

Also sick of people telling me I look great because I really don't feel it!

Gender scan uncertainty

I had my gender scan at 15w GA in WTTW and was told it’s a boy… I don’t know what I’m looking for but my boys scans did not look like this one and my friends due in July and was scanned at 15 weeks and her gender scan looks the same as my previous pregnancies… (I have twin boys and she’s having a boy) so I’m so unsure about the decision on this scan!

I’m probably wishful thinking as I’d love a little girl but thought I’d post for any advice or what you think? I haven’t got any girls to compare

Trying to get in shape

Hey loves I’m trying to start getting my body right but I don’t know how or where to start. Is anyone able to guide me? maybe be my diet buddy and my exercise buddy. I’m just not sure how to do anything for my body after a c section. Not being able to feel that portion of my stomach is so weird, especially being a first time mom.

Bright red lochia

I’m 4 weeks pp and have not stopped bleeding. It’s very light now and I can even use panty liners (ran out of pads one day) but it’s still bright red and stringy when I wipe. Apparently it’s meant to not be bright red but brown/yellow now. Does anyone else have this?
It can’t be my period because I never stopped bleeding and it’s not a flow and I’m EBF.

88th Percentile

Hi just needed a bit of advice. Not sure what to do or if I’m panicking for nothing.

I’m just over 33weeks and have started growth scans due to my long term condition. During this scan I was told that my baby is measuring at the 88th percentile? When I’ve been measured by the tape all this time it’s shown to be 50th percentile (I know it’s not accurate).

Anyway the doc said that if it reaches 90th percentile then will be looking to see if I have GD? But when I had my glucose tolerance test at 25weeks it was fine.

I know I’m just hormonal but feeling so guilty and can’t stop crying. I’ve had a rough pregnancy sickness and foodwise and haven’t had that much to eat. The only thing I’ve been able to handle is fruit, ice lollies and coffee frappes (without the cream). Did I induce this?

Any advice would be appreciated.
