Is it safe to give a 9 month old bread/sandwich? He’s got his two bottom teeth. Even tho my daughter is only 2 I cannot remember if she was eating bread at this age.

Yep, teeth don’t matter - we just always did lightly toasted or properly squished so it wouldn’t gum up so much in their mouths x

Usually toasted at this age, normal bread is abit too soft and can become gummy in their mouths, but I guess it all depends on the baby x

Here is a quick, reassuring version perfect for a comment section:
It is absolutely safe to give bread to a 9-month-old! He doesn't even need teeth—their gums are incredibly strong and do a great job of mashing.
Since fresh bread can sometimes get gummy and stick to the roof of the mouth, here is how to serve it safely:
- Lightly Toast It: Toasting prevents the bread from rolling into a sticky ball, making it much easier to manage.
- Cut into Strips: Slice it into finger-sized strips so it’s easy for his little hands to hold and chew.
- Add a Thin Spread: A very thin layer of butter, avocado, or smooth nut butter adds great nutrients and moisture.
- Watch the Salt: Try to opt for whole-grain or lower-sodium breads when you can, as commercial loaves can be high in salt.
Sandwiches and toast strips are a fantastic, easy option for this age. You've got this!

Thank you! I know teeth or no teeth is fine I was just worried that it would stick to the roof of his mouth 🙈
This makes lunches and pack lunches a lot easier now haha.

I gave my twins freshly baked sourdough from our bakery around 10 months. They had no teeth and loved sucking on the bread.
