Breastfeeding

Just wondering how often everyone is breastfeeding? My 8 day old is on the boob all the time and several people have suggested a dummy. I’m not anti getting him one but not sure if I’m just giving in too soon and it’s normal for him to be feeding often at this stage. He’s definitely not only eating once every 3 hours!

It's normal to be cluster feeding at 8 days old. Let him have the boob x

Totally normal. His feeding habit is what will help bring in your milk after colostrum.

(Also to add, to be on the boob is not only about feeding. It's about much more that baby need at the moment. Warmth, cuddles, pain relief, regulation etc. Also it's nature's way of making sure we stimulate milk for coming days! Baby is just doing what baby is supposed to do ☺️)

Yep, I'm 2 weeks in, I had a week in hospital with him as he had an infection and the midwives said he needed a dummy as sucking was soothing him and he was essentially using me as a dummy and theybwere habing to use their finger to sooth him for procedures. I held off but then my partner stayed the night with us and seen how little sleep I was getting because of it. We were trying to hold off too as we didn't want nipple confusion and to disrupt his feeding and also weaning his big brother off his took ages. but we tried it and it helps so much after feeds to settle him and I see he is just pacifying, he spits it out once he's asleep and sometimes he refuses it when he doesn't need it. It hasn't had any effect on his feeding as he is a hungry boy so will differentiate, he let's me know when the dummy is certainly not what he wants 😅
We use the tommee tippee glow in the dark ones, he didn't like the mama ones. We had them at home as they came in free baby gift packs.. You got this xx

My daughter was the same, she ended up cluster feeding from day 8/9 so was feeding her nearly every 30-60 minutes. But then also using me as a dummy. Had an awful night the other night and we resorted to a dummy which has saved us. And thankfully no nipple confusion xx

Currently feeding my second, we were told by our lactation consultant that as long as you offer boob first to check they’re not hungry then it’s fine to offer a dummy. Cluster feeding is their way of increasing your milk supply so if you give them a dummy in the early moments it can impact down the line, not necessarily immediately. I do give mine a dummy occasionally but only after a feed if he seems to want more but I’m confident he’s had enough, I don’t want to risk my milk supply not keeping up with his demand as he grows

Car seat help!! 🙏🙏

(Please ignore the messy car)
We had this car seat fitted yesterday by Halfords but the seat belt is in the way of putting my baby in. The guy who fitted it said it has to be like this so it’s diagonal in the back but I can’t put my baby in from the outside I have to go inside the car and buckle her in.
There must be another way 😩 or some trick to fix the seat belt down easily, put baby in, then put it back out? I need to sort this out asap because she already hates the car seat and she’s especially annoyed at it after daycare so I can’t make it worse 🥲

Breast Feeding

When I was younger, my mom used to explain to me that she didn’t breast-feed because her breasts were really big in this new generation. Is that a thing?
I currently wear a 36 triple D or 36E and I just wanna make sure when I do start breast-feeding that I won’t smother my baby with my breast

Front sleeping?

My little boy was born 20th January, he can roll onto his front and has been rolling sleeping like this for the last few nights. However he can’t yet roll back onto his back, does anyone else’s babies sleep in their front? My older two also preferred to sleep on their front but I’m so worried because he can’t roll back 🥲
