So, we had a scan yesterday and we’d agreed not to find out baby’s gender but we think the midwife may have slipped up and told us. So now we’re in a bit of a dilemma…
Do we find out or try to ignore what she said?

Midwives often have a go to "he" or "she" that they use with all scans, hopefully this was the case for yourself! Xx

I cant imagine not knowing. How do you ask people to buy things or plan? I know lots of options are white or gender neutral but half the fun of a baby is shopping for them!

Often they don’t know if you’ve said you don’t want to find out it won’t be written in any of your notes or scan reports. My midwife said sometimes they say he/she based on what the last person they saw is having

Nearly all my sonographers I've had go to is she. My baby's been confirmed boy at every scan I've had since 16 weeks (I'm 40+4) 😆 even the ones confirming he's a boy has called him she. As well as my midwife I've had since my first appointment knows he's a boy but was feeling my tummy on Sunday and said she's busy isn't she after we were just discussing his name 😂😂 so there's a high chance it's just that midwifes go to. Try forget what she said and enjoy your surprise 🥰

First of all I’m sorry there was a slip up, I too would share similar disappointment. I can tell you that keeping the baby’s gender unknown was one of the best things I did for my first. In a life where we don’t get many surprises, it was the most the best thing I could have gifted myself and husband. I would say, give yourself some time to take a breather from the disappointment and continue to keep it unknown. You can’t be certain the midwife and at next appointment - tell her you’d wish for the gender to be unknown moving forward (before appointment begins). I think you’ll really love it when the day comes, it will still be really very special for you both xxx

Was it a midwife or a sonographer?
The midwife won't know.
We had to specifically ask our sonographer and then she checked around the genitalia of the baby with the ultrasound machine and then and told us, as it's not something they routinely check for.
Having said this, we had a girl and sometimes for boys I believe the penis is quite obvious and visible on the scan, depending on the position of the baby.

We never found out for either of our babies but our sonographer said he a few times. It was a girl. I think, like the baby books, there’s a default. Saying It can feel wrong to some.

3 pregnancies now. Every time they've used he/she regardless of what's in ny belly. I wouldn't look into it too much. :)
If you don't want to find out then ignore what she said! All the best xx
