I’m sorry if I sound stupid but can someone please explain in dumb terms how nursery’s work applying and payment wise I’m self employed I made less than 10k last tax year this year will be about 15k ( what year does it go by when they mention earning x amount you are eligible for x)
How do I apply for funding. What funding am I entitled to do you do this before or after finding a nursery
I’m wanting to do maybe 3/4 days a week
I’m also on universal credit but I don’t get much from them maybe (200-400 a month) as I earn enough from self employment some months
I need my daughter to start as I know I can be earning more with the self employment but I don’t have time currently
Many thanks !!!

If youre in work you should be entitled to free hours and tax free childcare. Have a chat to the nursery about the process and theyll give you guidance.

Not sure where you're located but lots of local councils have a family information service who will be able to advise and give guidance on eligibility etc and support with applications/paperwork if needed xx

You’ll be entitled to the 30 free hours. Not sure if you’re a single parent but if so, while you’re eligible for UC, you can also claim back 85% of childcare costs through them.
You’ll need to find a nursery that can take your daughter (some can be booked up for quite a while) and then apply for the hours for the term she can start.
