Weaning

Want to start weaning but I’m confused as I keep seeing things saying baby should be able to sit up on their own - mine definitely can’t sit on their own on the floor - he would flop to the side and needs hands to help hold him up. But he is ok in the high chair?

Those who have started weaning their baby with food already , can your baby sit on the floor on their own? Or no but you still have introduced foods?

Assisted sitting still counts as long as they have good head control and can hold their head up properly as to not choke! My LG is still wobbly when sitting unaided but has perfect head control

My first was ok to sit in the highchair but not alone when we started weaning. She was find and now in her terrible 2 stage. Our December baby was better at sitting before we introduced food but still wasn't 100%. We followed their queues for food. Both extra hungry babies so we started and we've not had any issues. They tend to say when they're confident sitters just incase of any choking issues but it's not like your gonna lay baby back down as soon as they've finished, they get some sit up time after a meal to make sure it stays down

Mine doesn't sit alone and is far from it! 😂😂 But he has a strong head control! I started giving him food (pure food fed by me on a spoon - sweet potato, banana, avocado etc) he loves it!

Just try it and see if he enjoys it! I'd suggest a smashed piece of banana, as it's sweet! I cut just 2cm of a banan for him

Baby 1st bday party / alcohol

Hey all, it’s my baby’s first birthday this weekend and im just having like a gathering in the garden for him! I haven’t even mentioned alcohol to people as I thought it would be obvious that it’s not acceptable to really drink at a baby’s first birthday party!!

Please may I ask people’s thoughts as quite a lot of people have messaged me to ask if they can bring bottles of wine, cans of beer / cider, cans of cocktails!! Am I being harsh not wanting it there??

Labour!

I’m 38 weeks and booked for an induction next week, but really wanted to go into labour naturally before induction anything that’ll actually work ? 😆

Booking scan ☺️

I’ve got my NHS booking scan next week. This may be a silly question, but does my partner need to come? I’m more than happy to go solo as it sounded more of an admin type appointment.

Should I push or not?

I had a growth scan 2 weeks ago (28+6) which showed normal velocity but baby girl was 13%. This scan was triggered by a low fundal height measurement.

I went back in today with RFM (ctg and checks were all normal), and I’d had some spotting on Saturday (post sex). My fundal height was 30cm and I’m 32 weeks tomorrow.

Consultant saw me and referred me for a scan which the ultrasound department have rejected. Should I push for a scan or is this enough reassurance?

Overwhelmed

My baby is 7 months old and i just feel exhausted. I can't keep on top of housework, eating well and I feel like I'm generally just drowning.
Is this normal or does it ever get any easier? Feel a bit scared for the future as people say the first 6 months are when babies are the easiest 😬
Posting incognito as I just feel a bit embarrassed!

Activities with a newborn

What are you all doing with your newborns during the day? I feel guilty as husband has just gone back to work and I’m just about coping with feeding/ burping along with all the pumping I have to do (exclusively pumping). I find that I’m basically glued to the couch all day waiting for naps. I’m worried that I’m not providing my baby any stimulation but it’s just so hard 😫
