My husband works nights 12 hour shifts, he helps with our kids and cleaning and whatever else. I think every marriage is different but in ours we respect each other and we support the load how we can. My husband did get 12 weeks off when our daughter was born so he helped days and nights, she was EBF so I was up around the clock.

We used to get into it a LOT over this because his argument was he needed better sleep more than I do since he’s going to be working on his feet for over 10 hours a day, and needing to be able to be upbeat and social since he works retail sales. So no, I always would do the night shifts almost entirely on my own unless I reached a breaking point or something.

I breastfed so mostly to keep me company. With our second and third he did pretty much all the toddler wake ups and I did baby wake ups

Our baby is currently sleeping through the night so it’s less of a thing at the moment, but he would do the middle of the night feed and change. When he gets home from work he does feeds, changes and helps me with dinner!

With our first my partner worked night shifts when he went back to work. Because I found it much easier to manage just getting me and baby to sleep by myself & needed more assistance during the day time from him.
With our second I have no idea how it’s gonna pan out yet
