Hi everyone. My baby is 7 weeks old, and I only started using my Tommee Tippee UV steriliser a couple of days ago. I’ve since seen on the NHS website that UV sterilisers aren’t recommended, and now I’m feeling a bit worried.
Is anyone else using a Tommee Tippee UV steriliser? Have you had any problems, or has everything been okay? I’d really appreciate hearing other parents’ experiences.

Hi my baby is 8 weeks old and I’ve been using the vital baby UV steriliser and we’ve had no issues. I think the main concern with them is that the bottles do need to be thoroughly cleaned beforehand as opposed to steam sterilisation and the UV needs to be able to reach all surface areas so avoid overcrowding the machine

Just make sure there’s no milk residue on the bottle parts before putting them in

I have been using this since baby was born and she is now 6 weeks. I havent had any problems. My health visitor also didnt recommend me using the Tommee Tippee prep machine but again I have been using it and my baby has been fine

I used one for my son, he’s now 18 months and no issues at all with it. I loved mine as it was perfect storage and kept sterilised x

I'm using the Tommee Tippee UV Steriliser and my baby is 12 weeks and fine. As long as you follow the instructions, you'll be fine. I was only asked once what I'm using, when we went to get him checked for tongue tie. When I said UV Steriliser, they asked whether I know how to use it properly, and I do. If you're unsure there is a lot of information online.
Additionally, maybe wash the baby bottles and other stuff in a separate basin, rather than straight in the sink.

I used it but for breast milk bottles and pump parts. My daughter is now 18 months and healthy and fine. I still use it now as I love drying feature (can’t stand wet bottles/beakers) and the storage

The issue with uv sterilising is it deteriorates plastics and particularly silicon teats really quickly which could be harmful to a baby consuming from it, also uv can go through bends and curves meaning there could be several parts of the item being sterilised that don't get sterilised.
