Nicu mum here šš» my little one is nearly 4months and weāve been doing 3 hour feeds until last week and we moved to 4 hour feeds for two days. Specialist said our boy was doing great so told us to move to demand feeding⦠now his not drinking as much and it doesnāt seem enough in mls as we have to track everything. We are now trying different bottles. He was doing part puramino and part expressed breast milk and they told us to go full expressed breastmilk.
Has anyone else had similar and can offer advice? Iām trying not to stress but I canāt help it š©š© his sometimes going less than two hours between feeds as we canāt get him to drink enough.

Breastfed babies typically feed more often in the day and potentially for shorter times/amounts so that kart is pretty typical, and dthe amount of breastmilk consumed at each sitting can vary as it's based on their needs and demand at the time. Formula makes them feel fuller for longer which is why their were longerbstretches before switching to breastmilk only. If you can, try to look at the whole day and week rather than each feed, if the overall amounts are still good and they are gaining weight then that is a good sign.
Still, if you are concerned do talk it through with your HV who will be able to best advise and reassure based on your situation š

Thank you! I Am hoping to get him weighed Friday, we are in talks with kings hospital due to ongoing health issue and they are guiding us through and they are all about numbers so thought it would be nice to hear from parents. He was averaging between 600/700mls formula/expressed breast milk and now itās between 500mls/600mls but sometimes he does go on the breast, but as we donāt do it all the time they are unsure how efficient he is on the breastš¤¦š¼āāļø. Feels like we are just going round in circlesā¦.
