My 10 month old has a high temp of 38.7. it was high earlier. I gave him Calpol at 1:30 which brought it to 37.4. he's just woken from a nap and it's back up again. Obviously I cannot give more Calpol. Hes pretty cranky, understandably.
Do I just keep an eye on him? Calpol only worked for 3 hours. He's never had a high temperature before so not sure what steps I'm meant to take. When does it become serious.
Sorry I probably sound really stupid

My oldest run high fevers (40+ degrees) almost every time he gets sick (since he was 7 months, he’s 3 now) ofc discuss with your GP, but what we do is alternate between calpol and baby neurofen every 3-4h when fever is peaking.
Also check so his weight is within the age bracket you’re giving for, 111 GP told us to give more calpol at one point bcs he was too heavy and then not doing the job.
Call 111 if you’re worried x

I believe you can give baby nurofen if Calpol is not working. They are different medications.
But you can always check with 111

I have the same issue, my 6month old had temp of 38.5 2 hours ago, it’s gone down as I gave her nurofen, I went straight to nurofen as it’s supposed to lower fever at least that’s what I read on nhs website

38.7 isn't all that high. I would just keep an eye on him. What are his symptoms? Fever itself is not inherently harmful unless EXTREMELY high (like 41+) and doesn't need treatment to reduce it unless that treatment is giving pain relief or whatever. In fact sometimes masking a fever is unhelpful. Google "fever phobia" https://adc.bmj.com/content/102/Suppl_2/A6.1
