What do you to tell your little ones to do if someone hits/pushes them?
My daughter started nursery-school last September and at the beginning I was very "no never ever hit" but now im "if they hit you, you hit back"
Ive said if someone hits/pushes you shout stop very loudly and if they do it again you hit/push back.
I've noticed some very pushy children in her group and my daughter is shy so I dont want her seen as an easy target!

I think I’ll probably tell my son it’s a 3 strike rule but I’ve not actually had to discuss this yet!
1st, tell them to stop
2nd, tell a teacher/adult
3rd, whack em

I understand about hitting back and get even but then, you’re raising a child to be the SAME as the hitter. It’s a very young age. Having your daughter use a strong voice and making sure there’s excellent staff to witness and intervene is crucial. Speak with the teachers, they need to do a better job handling that and teaching ALL kids about personal space, etc

What happens if that child is a lot bigger than her and hits back harder?
My daughter has said a few times teachers were busy or not there, as I always said at the beginning to shout the teacher

I do, but I tell my daughter to ignore or tell a teacher first. If it continues, I tell her to leave the space the hitter is in, but if the hitter follows, then I say hit back. Pretty sure my kid can’t that sequence though, she’s only three.

My daughter had a great example of this today. I’ve always told her not to hit back and just put to hands up and to get help. (This advice I’m sure may change if she is older and deals with bully’s or whatever but for now she’s 5)
Today her friend slapped her in the line at school and my little girl said “I wanted to hit her back so much but I didn’t and just told the teacher and she lost out on half of play time for hitting me”.
I then said it was good she didn’t hit her back otherwise she would of ended up missing playtime too and that she did the right thing
