Does anyone else’s 1-year-old toddler bang their head repeatedly on walls or anything else every day, self-smack, or sometimes grab your hands or use your knees to bang their own head? He also hand flaps. Could this be linked to autism?

It could, potentially

My son is exactly the same, if things don’t go his way or I say no, he will either seat drop on the floor or bang his head on door/ cupboards/floor or even me then start to cry and look for comfort. I did google this and it said its because they can’t regulate their emotions or it’s a way for them to get you to comfort them. They will grow out of it because I say to myself this isn’t normal to be doing that, but supposedly it’s because they can’t say how they feel and get frustrated. My son is 2 in September.

What words can he say? And yes, I understand it’s stressful for us. I do try to distract him, but nothing works. Even when I cuddle him, he’ll headbutt me when I’m not expecting it. 😩 I reached out to my health visitor, but she kept making excuses for his behaviours, and my GP wasn’t helpful either. They kept telling me it’s too “early,” but these signs have been there since he was 5–6 months old and have gradually gotten worse. He even does it while he’s playing. x
And yesterday, when his dad came home from work, little man got up from his chair. We thought he was running over to give his daddy a hug, but instead he ran straight into the wall to bang his head. 🤦🏽♀️
