Hello first time mom here and I have been debating on when to start my baby in daycare. She is currently 3 months and stays with my mom while I’m at work. I have been wanting to wait till she 6 months but I feel like that might be late. I know baby’s are tough and adapt to change but I don’t want to wait till long and feel horrible when the time comes. Just looking for some advice.

Trust your gut! My daughter started daycare around a year old when I went to work for one. But make sure you're thorough when picking a daycare. Check their ratings and go online to see when licensing has been there and why. Don't be afraid to ask all the questions.

We started at 18 months

Also see if you're able to speak with any parents and see how they feel about the place.

I had to start my little guy at 3 months (6 weeks adjusted because preemie) He got sick the first week with a cold. He was over it in 2 days it took me about 2 weeks to get over it. He did great. They sent me lots of pictures. I very luckily work for a school district that has their own daycare, so it made me feel a lot more comfortable with leaving him. It was definitely harder on me than him.

We started at 5 months because that's when I had to go back to work. Definitely pros and cons but we don't have a support system in TX, so we didn't have any other choice. I think if we had help I would have waited long.

If your mother is happy watching her why start daycare? Is your mother no longer available?
