FTM, Going to start packing my hospital bags as of today, any tips on essentials that arenāt really spoken about? Iāve heard a few ladies buying some hospital gowns to take to hospital (easier cleaning etc after birth) how true is this though? Because I was only planning on taking a few dark pyjamas shorts sets! also is it worth taking breast pumps?? Iām planning on breastfeeding but also have formula just in case but heard breast pumps can make it easier for your milk to come through if struggling with latch/production. Ps Iāll be staying in hospital for a minimum of 2 days due to positive GBS swap. Any tips would be so helpful thank you šš¼

I would buy a few cheap night dresses from primark instead, youāll not have any bottoms on whilst in labour. You wont need a breast pump that early as its only colostrum in the early days and its in tiny tiny amounts. Usually not recommended to pump until around 6 weeks anyway until your supply settles. Flip flops for the shower/walking around. Eye mask and ear plugs, a hand fan, big water bottle and your own pillow from home would be my essentials x

One on my list i haven't seen many places has been chap stick

I never bled through anything after birth so pjs were fine, I still had black ones just incase but no need for āeasy to cleanā things. I ended up going in on a Saturday, had my son on the Monday and didnāt get home until the Thursday or Friday so I found it handy having a second bag packed and kept in the car so my partner didnāt have to try to pack one for me. Just had extra bits for me and baby. Plenty juice and snacks, our hospital shop costs a fortune so kept a supply in the car too. Headphones for watching things. Long cable chargers. I used the hospitals own breast pump and got formula from them too when breastfeeding got off to a rocky start so I wouldnāt worry too much about that. I preferred adult nappies for comfort over pads, less worried about leaks that way and comfortable over your stomach if you need a section. X

Spritz for bits was a life saver for me me and the tenner pants i actually wore during the first few days will definitely do again this time i will also take witch hazel foam and i think they do some kind of liners too. My friend just had to stay in hospital and the hospital actually gave her a pump as she had some issues with breastfeeding. And snacks as everyone else has said i was STARVING after𤣠x
