I am 32 weeks + 6 days pregnant and earlier this week I was sent for a growth scan that showed my baby is in the 96th percentile weighing approximately 5 pounds. I’m now weighing up my options of elective c-section or induction at 39 weeks. I have another scan at 36 weeks to confirm if she is still measuring big and then an appointment with a consultant. Does anyone have experience of this? I’m unsure now of what to do birth wise as I had in my head a natural water birth but that may not be the case. I was dead against c-section but now I’m thinking twice.

My first son was measuring in the 98th percentile, had a growth scan at 34 or 35 weeks and he was 7.5lbs. I personally decided on an elective C-section, he was born at 40+2 weeks and weighed 8.9lbs. This pregnancy I am currently measuring on the 97th percentile (this was at 28 weeks and I am currently 31 weeks), I want a VBAC but it's like a waiting game to see what he measures at when I have my 34 week midwife appointment

So firstly you don’t have to have either. Measurements aren’t accurate. I have had two “big” babies, no induction, no csection. They wanted to induce both but I wasn’t having an induction for what could be no reason. My first was 9lbs 2oz and second was 8lbs 14oz so not much difference.
I would do your research and then decide what you feel like. There is a great online course called birth-ed that really helps with making these decisions. She has also written a book which I will link below. Her course and book is all about you navigating the NHS system whilst making the best decision for you - whether it’s csection, induction or neither.

Look at the big baby trial, induction doesn’t improve outcomes for big babies it actually makes them more likely to be malpositioned and you encounter issues. Truly big babies do best when they pick their birthday and you stay upright forward and open - virtually impossible with induction.
Two big babies 9lb 11 and 11lb, I tried vaginally both times. One vaginal birth, one section.
There’s also a good chance your baby isn’t that big at all x

My baby was measuring like 95th percentile by 37 weeks & was measuring like 10lbs at 39 weeks, i got induced at 39+4 and she came out 8lbs x
