FTM AND LOSING MY MIND

I feel like I’m losing my mind, and I honestly don’t know if it’s just the hormones or if something is actually wrong, so I’d really like some outside perspective.

I gave birth six weeks ago and had a very traumatic delivery. My daughter spent time in the NICU, and we ended up staying in the hospital for eight days. It was an incredibly stressful and emotional experience.

My family came all the way from another country to be here with me, and they’ll be staying for a month. Since giving birth, I’ve found myself becoming increasingly irritated with my mother-in-law. She comes over every single day, even if it’s only for an hour, and she constantly wants to hold the baby. She lets her fall asleep on her chest and says things like, “You’re mine.” Every day she wants to come over, and it’s starting to feel overwhelming.

Maybe she’s doing this because my family is staying with us, but I’m honestly exhausted by it. Everything she does seems to get under my skin. My parents are very respectful of both me and the baby. They give me space, support me, and let me take the lead as Porter’s mother. But when my mother-in-law is here, she always wants to take over and hold the baby.

What bothers me even more is that she seems to think I should be doing housework while she takes care of my baby. I also found out that she had considered coming over in the morning and taking the baby while I was sleeping so she could look after her. That made me incredibly angry.

I’ve been so stressed by all of this that my milk supply seems to have dropped over the last few days, and it breaks my heart that I’m dealing with this stress over my own baby.

Has anyone else experienced something like this? Am I overreacting, or are these feelings normal?

I know exactly how you feel. I felt the same way when I had my now 9 month old. My partners parents kept coming in and taking our baby without even asking and I remember feeling really upset and stressed constantly when it would happen. If you have a supportive partner, I’d suggest asking him to control the situation. After she’s had as much time as you are happy with, ask to have the baby back or simply go over to her and say mummy wants you now. But as it’s your partners parents I know it becomes awkward, so ask your partner to take the baby back when you want him to. X

i definitely understand. I wish someone would take my daughter while i sleep but it's your hormones. I want help now that she is one month old but in the beginning, I just wanted my baby. Maybe try to establish boundaries with your mother-in-law. I had some issues with my mother, but we’re working through it.

Hi my love ❤️ I'm so sorry you're having such a tough time with your MIL, especially after everything you've been through. Your feelings are completely valid, and I don't think you're overreacting. These first few weeks are such a precious time for you and your baby to bond, and for you to establish breastfeeding if that's your goal. To help reduce some of the stress on you, I'd recommend speaking with your partner and asking them to set some boundaries with your MIL. You deserve the space to recover and enjoy this special time with your baby. ❤️

Save my marriage plus a newborn

My baby is 5 weeks old and me and my husband are in the worst place weve ever been in our marriage. I used to feel like we were soul mates, he was my best friend but now we keep having arguments over petty things, when I try to communicate with him, he doesn't listen and storms off but then I cry and he shouts, swears and name calls if I try to stand up for myself. I've been diagnosed with postnatal depression too and am under the perinatal mental health team, they suggested some medication but my husband says hes "disappointed" that im considering medicstion. Any tips on how to save my marriage with a new born?

Do babies stop having blowouts?

My son is three months old and has occasional blowouts, we don’t deal with this problem a whole lot, but it happens and it stains his clothes when he does. I want to dress my son in cute outfits, but I don’t wanna spend money on nice if he’s just going to poop through them. So can anybody with older babies tell me does it stop or when does their poop become more solid and not as runny?

P.S. I know that babies are gonna poop and make messes. I don’t expect everything to be perfect clean all the time.

Baby crying all evening

Hi everyone,

My baby girl has turned one month old today and in the last few weeks she has been very gassy. We started infacol before every feed and it seems that after she has had a big poo, she settles more.

However in the last few days she has been making herself overtired. It doesn’t matter what I try during the day, she just won’t settle down for a nap unless on me and most of the time, even on my chest, she is just so exausted that she won’t settle.

Today I managed to get her to sleep a bit better during the day but then from around 7ish this evening, up until 11, she was just not calming down. We tried rocking, lowering lights and stimulation, bath, feeding, she just wouldn’t settle.

Anyone else going through this or has any tips? Is this due to a growth spur or?

Temporary Hair dye

My LO is 3 and he really loves colour and expressing himself, he likes his nails painted, drawing "tattoos" on his arms and always wears sunglasses, necklaces, watches and gloves. I love to let him find his own style and enjoy being himself. I've seen lots of videos of parents using temporary hair dye on their kids over the summer, i think my LO would love it. I was thinking jjst the tips or a peekabo or some strips, he loves red and purple so i was gonna mix it up a bit. I think its such a fun tradition to do over the summer and they can grow it out before school starts. Just wondering if anyone has done this or is considering giving it a go?
I was gonna use artic fox as i've heard its pretty good for keeping the hair healthy and fades after a while

Unpopular opinion..

I’ve never had my baby in a swaddle (just sleeping bag) and I’m not sure I agree with it..
