Hiya. I’m 26 weeks pregnant with a baby girl. Occasionally I have experienced a really excruciating pain near my spine and across my lower back. It does not ease with walking, lying, standing, or sitting. As soon as I move, the pain is unbearable. The pain comes in waves and lasts roughly 30 seconds. I’ve had it a few times throughout my pregnancy but it woke me up this morning while I was on holiday and I seriously considered going to the hospital because of the pain. If I was in the UK I would have gone straight to triage but as I’m abroad, I don’t want to go to the hospital and ruin the holiday if it’s nothing, especially as we will be flying home in 2 days. The pain has gone now but like I said, it isn’t constant and comes in waves every now and then. Should I be worried? Should I get checked out of can I wait until I’m back in the UK? Has anyone experienced this?
It’s causing me anxiety but I really don’t want to go to the hospital until I’m back in the UK.
Thanks xx

They sound like Braxton hicks

Hi Bea 👋🏻
I struggled immensely with sciatica early on in my pregnancy. Your symptoms sound very similar to what I went through but when in doubt it's best to check it out! Sorry your going through this! X

Does it feel like a nerve pain? I developed sciatica during pregnancy and I could barely move at times as the way my little boy was positioned meant if he rolled over he'd be laying directly on my sciatic nerve and it was sooo painful!
