My babies 7 weeks and we just put him to bed when we go to bed which can be like 10-11. Unsure if I should be making an effort to do so earlier? He does basically contact nap on us the whole evening

In the same position with my 4 week old and been wondering the same thing :)

We didn’t set a bedtime until our daughter was 6 months old. She slept on either me or my partner until we went up to bed.
It’s not recommended for babies to sleep in a room that their caregiver isn’t in until 6 months so we felt this worked well for us

i usually feed my baby around 8/8:30pm then rock him to sleep after and he he falls asleep by 9/10pm then ill just chill on my phone for a while before going to bed myself. hes 2.5 months old

We didn't bother with a routine or bedtime until my daughter was in her own room! She got herself into a sort of routine and would fall asleep around 7/8pm most nights but stay downstairs with us until we went up to bed!🥰

Until 3 months, both my babies have gone to bed at the same time as us as they don’t yet know the difference between day and night. After that they both slowly settled into their own rhythm when they would stay asleep longer and not wake up after a certain time. My youngest is 4.5 months and he tends to have a bottle about 7pm, go to bed between 8-8:30pm and then sleeps until 7-7:30am.

I use to take my baby up to bed when I went to bed and I fed him in bed then put him in his next to me.. that varied between 10-11pm so I’d say it’s totally fine. If you put them in bed too early they will wake up about 12 and you’ve only just gone to be yourself (depending how long they are sleeping but I never let mine go more than 3 hours without feed at night)

No need to change anything if it isn't causing a problem. We did this for months. All sleep is supposed to be in the same room as you for SIDS reduction until at least 6 months anyway, so if you were to put him to bed earlier you'd also be stuck in bed earlier. Contact napping is exactly what he needs!

We had our LG go to bed when we did for the first 3 months I think so was 10-11pm) and we only then gradually brought her sleep to earlier from then onwards

They need to be in the same room as you for all sleep the first 6 months anyway so bringing bed time earlier would just mean one of you being in the bedroom with them anyway.
I'd leave it for now.
