I went into labour on my own at 39 and 5.

Woke up with contractions at 3.15am. Went to get checked at 8am and was told 2cm. Went back at 12.15 was 5cm and in active labour.

Got into the pool (had a water birth) about 1ish. Only had gas and air. She was born at 4.15pm.

Waters broke as her shoulders came out.

Yeah that's what they recommend. I called and they basically said you can come get checked out but it's likely we'll send you home until active labour. I lived 7 minutes from the hospital so thought why not.

I went back in when it became unbearable. That's when I was 5cm.
