FTM and almost 9 weeks postpartum and pumping around the clock is killing me mentally and physically. I currently pump 7-8 times a day and it’s hurting my body so much and I feel like I’m missing precious moments with my baby girl because of having to pump so much. Would it be bad if I space out my pumping a bit to not have to do it as much? I’m open to combo feeding my baby to supplement what I may not produce from dropping some sessions but pumping is taking a toll on me and I just feel stuck 😕

I'm 7 weeks postpartum and I only pump about 2 to 4 times a day. If your baby breastfeeds directly on you, I've heard that you don't need to pump... but, that's up to you whether or not you continue to, which I do, but doing it less frequently definitely helped me a lot

I’m 5, almost 6 weeks pp and almost exclusively pump while supplementing with formula. I generally pump every 4 hours, going much longer than that tends to make my breasts feel a bit engorged. But there was a recent span of about a week where we decided go stop using the formula because we thought it was giving our daughter bad gas. And so I ended up pumping like every 2 hours to just get 80mls total for 1 feed(babe eats every 3-4 hrs, 80-120mls). That was a little stressful. Now that we really haven’t seen a change with the gas issue after going back to solely breastmilk for multiple days, we’re back to supplementing with the formula and I am much less stressed about making sure I’m producing enough to fully nourish our child every time.

Are you pumping that often because you aren't getting enough if you pump less often ? What pump are you using ?

I also hated pumping. all the logistics were taking away from time with my son and my body doesn't respond that well to pumping so I started combo feeding. He gets about 2/3 from breastmilk and 1/3 from formula and he's thriving and so much happier and less fussy than he was before.
