Been having a hard few days with my little one and he’s started being very sicky after feeds which was something he only did occasionally before. He is 4 weeks and seems suddenly really fussy! I’m sleep deprived and all everyone keeps saying is “ it gets better” - which I’m sure it does but does anyone else find that really unhelpful when you’re in the newborn trenches and feeling hopeless 🤣 I know people mean well!

Yup. Thats all im hearing right now. She has just screamed for no reason than overtired. So now sitting consoling her till she finally falls asleep.

I remember people always saying this to me as a first time mum and I would get really frustrated. Like you said people mean well and speaking as a second time mum it's so true it does get so much easier and you will look back on the newborn trenches with a weird "It was so hard but went so quick" feeling later on.
However that doesn't take away from how bloody hard it is in the moment!
When I was first in those newborn days I wish people would just listen to me rant and validate my feelings. Pregnancy, giving birth, adjusting to being a parent, having a newborn, god it's one of the hardest things anyone can ever do! Last thing we need is to feel like we aren't allowed to acknowledge how hard it is. Even if you have one of those unicorn babies like I did with my first who would eat, sleep, repeat. Your whole world has changed! You are learning the hardest job in the world with no instructions on how to do it.
You will get through it. Take things day by day ❤️ there is so many exciting and fun things to come.

Also thought I would add that even as a second time mum I have those feelings of "omg is this my forever. Will I ever sleep again" and questioning everything I am doing. However I find that now I have that mindset of knowing that nothing lasts forever and the only constant with infants is change.
I found it got so so much easier around the 6 months age when you start to get a "bedtime". In the newborn days it just feels all consuming. I know that feels like a lifetime away but I promise it goes so quickly ❤️

I would like to know when it gets better 🤣 second baby and I can’t get any sleep unless my partner keeps baby downstairs for couple hours she’s breast fed I’m losing my mind with the lack of sleep
