Question for those who just started solids

Hey mamas.

This may be a silly question but im curious to know. For those who just started solids, how are you feeding your LO when you are out? What are they sitting on?

So we don't actually have a highchair at all yet! We're in the process of moving and my bd wants to wait for us to get one. I kinda just sit her up on my lap when I feed her. It's a little messy sometimes, but it works 😭

I still sit here on my lap, in her stroller, on the table in front of me..anything that would give her good sitting level support

If they just started then probably nothing. As they get older then a high hair they have at the restaurant. Sometimes I’ll bring pouches to be easy but when they are older and eat a bit more then just trying stuff I’ll cut up some of my food.

I sit him on my lap a lot or up against the couch or in his stroller

MIL help

In my spare time to make some extra money I drive uber to help my partner pay for my school yesterday was the first time sense I was hospitalized for pp complications my MIL watched our son. She was with him for only 4 hours, he’s 5 weeks 2 days and when my partner went to pick him up after his shift at work was over she said to him ā€œif she can’t get him to stop crying just to be held I’m not watching him for you guys anymoreā€ I’ve been told my multiple ppl and everything I’ve read says he’s simply just not old enough to self regulate yet. So now my partner feels like I’ve ā€œspoiled himā€ and wants me to let him ā€œcry it outā€ sense his mom is adamant that’s what she did with her 2 sons but it hurts my heart to let him sit there and cry when all he wants is comfort. Any advice or thoughts on what to do… me and him are very good with communication but this seems to have caused a disconnect and I feel like I’m being blamed for a new born crying when that’s simply what they do.

Mixed emotions

Hey guys, I’m really struggling with my emotions atm. I recently found out I’m pregnant with baby number 3, and don’t get me wrong, I am so happy to be welcoming another baby… I just didn’t think it would happen so soon, as it took us 2 years to conceive both of our other children (this time literally took a couple of months).

I can’t help but feel so disheartened that I can’t fully join in on the events we had/ have planned. My best friend has asked me to join her for some drinks for the past 3 weekends and I’ve had to think of an excuse each time to say no.

I know that this probably sounds so stupid, and might come across ungrateful for the life I’m creating (which I can assure you is not the case), but I absolutely love to socialise and adore the occasional night out… and I feel so guilty for feeling this way!!! My husband is about to head out for some drinks, and I can’t help but feel so jealous of him! I don’t remember feeling this way with either of my previous pregnancies, so I’m hoping I’m not the only one here that’s struggling with this? 🄺

Would you be concerned

If you had a toddler and lived in the same street as a primary (elementary) school and your neighbour has a driveway (1 car length long) that leads to a sudden drop off of around 10ft onto concrete.
No barriers it just leads straight onto the road, no signs or anything to indicate private property or anything it’s just a gravel patch.
Used to have fencing at the end to guard from the drop but unmaintained and fence has fallen away.
Very quiet narrow dead end street so kids are generally safe to play on the road and children walk past it to go to and from school

Bonus Babe

So my bonus daughter is in town for the summer and I feel like every single thing we have done this summer, she says is boring. When I ask her what she wants to do with everyone else in mind, she still says it was boring or she didn’t get something she wanted. It’s like everything we do there is something wrong with it. It’s so stressful😩 Ive been trying to be as fun as possible and have as many activities and outing within reason because of this economy. I’m lost on exactly what is going on cause she gets upset constantly with stuff. She’s only eight. Does anyone have any ideas for activities for an eight year old?

Food addiction and food noise

I am so sick of the cycle, I can't get out of it.
I track my calories to try and avoid overeating and to lose weight but uts honestly taking over every thought and making me feel so depressed and stuck and FAT. I just can't lose weight no matter how hard I try.

I always do really well during the day, but by the time I have dinner I am so hungry, I eat my dinner and then I just want to stuff my face with whatever I can find.

I've tried snacking on strawberries because I enjoy them and they're obviously low calorie but I can't keep buying crates and crates of strawberries, I have a toddler who eats them too, we'll go into debt at the rate he eats strawberries too šŸ˜…

I'm trying my best to find low calorie, high volume foods to eat when I'm getting the urge to snack and binge but so far I only have a couple things that work and I need more options. Obviously I want to avoid binging but it just feels impossible, so if I'm going to do it, I don't want it to mess my calories deficit too much. I just always feel hungryyyy.

Should I confront her or not?

My MIL and I have always gotten along. Here and there we’ve had little things that have always been resolved. Usually her saying something because she’s a drunk. We catch up without my partner so we do get along quite well.

When me and my partner have disagreements, he usually says things like ā€œeven mum says you have it luckyā€. Which aggravates the fuck out of me because she doesn’t live in our house and she’s not in a relationship with her son. She sees my struggle and she knows what he’s like.

So I’m confused as to whether she does make comments to him or if he just says she does in order to make me feel shit.

I want to call her and ask if she made that comment or not. And if she did, I wanna ask her why she feels the need to make comments about a relationship she’s not in and why say them when she knows things. I want her to know she is enabling him by not telling him off for the shit he does. No one does. No one steps in.

Recently his dad has become involved in his life since we had our second child and it’s been great. The other day his dad told him off for something and he was remorseful and apologetic. I guess because someone else told him it’s not ok, he wasn’t allowed to be enabled.

I wanna pull her up on this so she knows it’s not ok to enable her son like that (if she really did say it).

I will always stand up for myself and I don’t care if that ruins a relationship between her and I if it’s for my own sanity (gaslighting and manipulation). I won’t be meeting her with rude energy, I just want to be plain and clear I hold no tolerance to family enabling his shitty behaviour. I’m on the edge of leaving him and I want to be clear, they play a part.

Thoughts?
