Am I being too uptight?

My sister in law is a mum herself and I generally get on with her well. She sometimes oversteps boundaries though and she once gave my son a big piece apple when he was about 6 months old without asking, and he started coughing and I had to take it out his mouth.
My husband has recently said that she would like to look after our son (who is now almost 2) and it would give us chance to have some date nights/days.
I just don't feel 100% comfortable though and I'm not sure if I'd spend the time away worrying.

No is a complete sentence and if you don’t want her to then you don’t want her to. You don’t need a reason, even though you definitely have one.

I wouldn't personally hold one stupid mistake from 1.5 years ago against her, but if it's a safety issue or a lot of overstepping rather than just different parenting styles I don't think it's worth it. If you can't trust that she won't listen to the important instructions and keep him safe she's not a good person to leave your child with. I'd explain to your husband that you wouldn't be able to relax and enjoy any time away because of her track record, you would just be worried what was going on.

However she is a mum, you say you get on well, does she have a good relationship with your son? Idk the nature of the other overstepping issues but this alone to me wouldn't be enough of a reason to say no to the offer, especially if she learned from it and hasn't repeatedly done the same things again and again.

How old are her children?

It easy to forget when your kids are older what they can at can’t eat as certain months. You can always try it and see how it goes unless you have other concerns you’ve not mentioned. It will be good for him to build stronger relationships with his cousins and aunt

Not sleeping !! FOMO baby 👶

My 16 week old, will not sleep!
She has just turned 16 weeks today and over the last week or so it has been increasingly difficult to settle her.
She’s always been difficult to settle but also very advanced - she’s sitting mostly independently, grabbing toys, putting everything in her mouth and showing all the signs she ready to be weaned (due to start very soon) & definitely already teething!
She has mostly slept in the pram/movement, rocked or BF to sleep - I’ve tried every other way, she just gets frustrated & refuses.
But it’s getting worse, to the point she’s having 4/5 hour wake windows and getting so distressed because she just won’t settle no matter how hard I try or what I do.

She doesn’t sleep in the car, pram anymore.
And is so unhappy all the time because she’s tired.

Honestly, I am stuck - I really have tried everything and I don’t know what to do.

I’m a tired mama, but my heart breaks for her because she’s so tired but can’t seem to settle or stay asleep.

Any suggestions? Is it just me or are there other mama’s having the same? Because this feels really overwhelming and lonely.

Thank you in advance for any tips!! 🤍

Will giving my BF baby mess up latching?

Baby is only 2 weeks, eats from a bottle occasionally no problems and latches to me no problems. But I there are times where I cant keep baby latched or need a break, and am tempted to give baby a pacifier.

Dummy and throwing up

My 12 day old throws up everytime I try and give her a dummy. Is this normal?
It’s like the minute it touches her lips she gags and then projectile vomits!

Mommas, do you believe there’s such a thing of “spoiling” your newborns?

I have some people tell me that I spoil my newborn by holding her too much. She is a month old. Anytime she cries I tend to her. I give her contact naps when she’s fighting sleep and I hold her when she wants to be held.

Does this bother anyone else like it bothers me? I don’t know, this is my first baby and I want her to feel secure and loved.
