For a breast pump. If you have insurance, contact them for a list of covered providers. Most insurance will cover one (even public insurance). It will help narrow down your list for you.

Are you wanting to exclusively pump? If not, I would avoid buying an electric pump to start with. Maybe get a handheld one like a Medela but there's no need to pump at all so waiting until you have established breastfeeding and figured what your goals are with pumping is better.

For carriers, a soft stretchy wrap like a close caboo is great, very cheap on vinted too

Nappies and wipes it doesn't matter get a small variety and wait and see what suits your baby best

i feel like you can’t go wrong with a spectra. the baby buddha is also good and a little more hands free. i would check local facebook market for someone selling and just buy your own parts on amazon, you may get it cheaper! I use the boppy nursing pillow it’s been just fine for me. you may want to have more than one type of bottle to try. i always had luck with Dr Browns but there are other popular brands. pacifiers. swaddles. my favorites were the SwaddleMe velcro ones. easy to use.

Weird Sleeping Positions

Just to let everyone know I do mover her if I think it's not safe. But does anyone else's baby sleep in weird positions, I mean my baby was breeched and now she's out she's a wiggly baby, legs everywhere put her in the cot to sleep and it's three thousand positions before she even settles, it cracks me up every time, anyone else has a baby who sleeps weirdly, I took photos as well 😂

My stepdaughter (who is old enough to know better) just said to me ‘your tummy must really hurt because it is HUGE’

She then went on to say ‘it was big when you were pregnant and it is still so big now’.

I didn’t really react much. I just said ‘it’s not kind to make comments like that about somebody’s tummy, it will upset them’.

Just to add, I have been a permanent fixture in her life since she was 18 months old and we have a loving and positive relationship and am also friends with her mum (who split from my partner amicably and also remains friends with him)
So it is not like she has been poisoned against me and feels like she needs to defend her mum or anything.

I am really hurt by this. My confidence is already so low.

I forgot how to hold an actual conversation

My daughter just turned one, and I feel like I genuinely don’t know how to hold conversation with anyone anymore. I just say “oh yeah” or “oh nice” or something and then realize later things I could have said. We have been moving a lot this year due to my husbands job so I don’t get out of the house at all so I’m sure that’s a big part of the issue but I feel like once pregnancy brain started for me it never went away Lmaoo. Anyone else?

Sleep

Hey, my baby is 4 weeks old and has passed their birth weight. I have had two different advices from health care visitor and midwife. I normally wake my baby up for feeds at night time after 3/4 hours which is the advice I was told due to my baby being small, I was also told my baby should wake me up for feeds if they are hungry and to let them sleep. I think I just have high anxiety about sids and unsure whether to let my baby sleep as when I do wake them they are super tired and only feed for around 5 minutes and go straight back to sleep and then wakes me up on their own every 2.5 hours after that. Do you let your baby sleep if they do or should I carry on with the four hours. They are soley breastfed

When I went to nursery to collect my son this evening I could hear him screaming. They said he was just having his nappy changed and it was a bit sore. The worker that was changing his nappy (who didn't know I was there) shouted "SARAH COME HERE!!". The worker I was standing with (Sarah) looked awkward and went into the next room. She came back saying that it had been sticky poo, diarrhoea and is very sore so they've had to put a lot of Sudocrem on. All this time my son is still screaming. She said that it is probably so sore because he did a lot of soiled nappies today.
When I changed his nappy after getting home, it's really red all over, including on his genitals and under his bum. When I looked at the app, he's logged as happy one soiled nappy this morning then just two other wet ones, the last one being around 2pm and I collected him around 5pm.
I'm worried that they left him in a soiled nappy for ages which is why it was 'sticky' and he's now so sore 🥺 I really don't have any proof though so I feel like it would probably just be my word against theirs.

Advocating for your child - NHS

Girls how are we successful advocating for our children through the NHS? I have been round in circles for the 36 hours trying to get my daughter seen for potential thrush.
I rung 111 yesterday at 7am, was told I would receive a call back within 6hrs, they called me at 5am this morning. Between that time I chased the call twice and spoke to a pharmacist who refused to see her.
Woke up to a voicemail left at 5am, telling me to book in with my GP today, the GP had no appointments even at 8:15am and offered me one tomorrow, suggested I see a pharmacist if we wanted her checked today. I tried a different pharmacist who also refused to see her and offered me a nappy cream which we had been using all weekend. Spoke to 111 who opened a referral to allow me to book a same day GP appointment, the GP told me I couldn’t have a same day appointment as we have been offered one tomorrow and sent me a link about how to care for nappy rash 🤯 111 said all they could do at this point was to advise me to take her to A&E or to call back at 6:30pm for an out of hours GP appointment!

My 1 year old has been left for almost 2 days in discomfort, she is so itchy and no one will see us!

Instead all I can do is take her to A&E and potentially expose her to other illnesses🤯
