Hey, my baby is 4 weeks old and has passed their birth weight. I have had two different advices from health care visitor and midwife. I normally wake my baby up for feeds at night time after 3/4 hours which is the advice I was told due to my baby being small, I was also told my baby should wake me up for feeds if they are hungry and to let them sleep. I think I just have high anxiety about sids and unsure whether to let my baby sleep as when I do wake them they are super tired and only feed for around 5 minutes and go straight back to sleep and then wakes me up on their own every 2.5 hours after that. Do you let your baby sleep if they do or should I carry on with the four hours. They are soley breastfed

If your baby has exceeded their birth weight I think you can let them sleep!

I went through an anxiety roller coaster with this. My health visitor said as long as LO gets a feed somewhere between 2am-5am if breastfeeding so they get prolactin then let them sleep. Mine can wake on her own somewhere between 2.5hrs and 4hrs
If she's hungry she'll wake x

We were waking our little one every 4 hours until recently we were advised we can let her wake us for feeds. She now sometimes sleeps 6/7 hours before she needs a feed. Usually she will wake between 3/5am then go back to sleep for a little while.

With both my boys once they got back to birth weight I just let them wake me. It was always within the 3/4 hour mark anyway.
I did wake them to feed during the day if they had gone over the 4 hrs mark just so they got enough calories so they are more likely to do longer stretches of a night. Obviously sleep at this age isn't something you can train, it's all down to the baby, but doing this must of had some positive impact as my first was sleeping 6/7 hour stretches from 8 weeks and my second who is 7 weeks does a decent 5hr stretch for his first stretch of sleep 🤞
