Does anyone else feel like this? šŸ˜ž

I don’t think people talk about this side of pregnancy enough.

This baby was planned. Rationally, I absolutely want this baby, and I’m committed to becoming a mum. But emotionally… I’m finding it so much harder than I ever expected.

I’m exhausted all the time. I feel sick on and off. My body doesn’t feel like mine anymore. I look in the mirror and barely recognise myself because I’m bloated, my clothes don’t fit properly, and I’ve spent years working so hard to get healthy and feel confident in my own skin. I feel disconnected from myself.

On top of that, all my brain seems to focus on is everything I’m about to lose. My independence. My freedom. My career. My relationship as it is now. My finances. The ability to just decide to go away for the weekend or spend a lazy Sunday doing absolutely nothing.

Everyone tells you, ā€œIt’ll all be worth it,ā€ and I truly believe them. But right now, the sacrifices feel so real, while the rewards are still impossible for me to picture because I haven’t met this little person yet.

And then I feel guilty… because shouldn’t I just be happy? Shouldn’t I be glowing and excited? Instead, I feel overwhelmed, scared, emotional, and like I’m grieving the life I’ve built, even though this is a life I consciously chose.

Please tell me I’m not the only one who’s felt like this. Did anyone else struggle with these feelings in early pregnancy? Did it get easier once your baby arrived, or even later in pregnancy? I could really do with hearing that I’m not alone… the thought of me possible already being a terrible mum breaks me.

I am! I am weighing keeping baby or adoption on top of it all the guilt for even considering because baby was absolutely planned. But having this man walk out on me a week before our wedding was never on the bingo card. I feel duped and tricked into single motherhood again. And I’m not sure if I want to. I sleep 12 hours a day minimum and I just roll with the punches. I know everyone is not able to stay at home and I don’t know tour situation. But we should not put our bodies or babies on a clock and standard. I went a month fasting and I’m sure it was a necessary detox. My doctors told me to force feed myself I refused. And when I came out I have been so active and full of energy and life. It was a necessity of rest and I just listened.

Your body is not your own unfortunately you have a Passanger and you gotta work as one. You are a unit and they are not a parasite. Your mindset and thinking and mood effects baby. And you can choose to be sad and joyful. In pain and hopeful.

Completely normal to feel like this! Both my babies were planned and wanted and as soon I fell pregnant, I had a panic over if it was the right thing to do. You’re full of hormones right now which just make everything feel a million times worse.

The days I met my babies were honestly the best days of my life. It is all worth it. Your body is doing an absolutely incredible thing right now, be kind to it. Motherhood is hard and it’s a wild ride but it’s also so beautiful and the best thing I’ve ever done. You have so much to look forward to. You do give up a lot but you gain so much more from it. The money and your time will come back but you’ll also have another family member!

I did for my first.

Sick every day, lethargic, constantly off work, thought about aborting a few times, crying all the time.

Took me till the halfway mark to realise I had antenatal depression and ended up seeing a shrink a few times which helped me understand how my mind was working.

Once she was here it took me a while to form an attachment but once it was there I was so happy to have her
