Big baby?

I was told my 1st was 97%, refused induction it was an absolute no from me, she was born naturally and spontaneously at 39+4 7lbs 7oz

I belive both scans and fundal measurements are notoriously inaccurate this late in pregnancy!

My first was predicted to be a 10lb+whopper so I was induced at 39 weeks. Unfortunately the induction diddnt work for me and she was born at 40 weeks at 8lbs8oz… so big but nowhere near as big as they thought!

I’ve had a few complications along the way, and I had a MMC last September due to blood clot on my placenta so only have birth 10 months ago, plus I’m 40 so I think they are being overly cautious with me. I have 2 sweeps booked in this week to see if I can get her going naturally. Just feeling a little nervous about having a big baby, my previous have all been 7lb something xx

Have you been getting regular growth scans or was this a once off?
If it’s a once off take the measurements with a pinch of salt.

If you’ve had regular scans it gives you a little bit more of an idea especially if she’s stayed on the same percentile chart but again there’s so much room for error.

I got measured 3 times last week and all 3 measured me as being on different percentiles 90th, 93rd and 98th so not absolutely massive differences but still it’s almost a pound difference between the smallest measurement and the biggest xx

I had my baby today (39w + 1) via c-section, they estimated her to be just shy of 8lbs but she’s only 6lbs 11oz

The scans can be off. I think it really depends if you feel happy enough to be induced and they have discussed all options with you. Induction can be a work for some women and others like myself with my first baby it just didnt and my experience ended in a c section and my baby was measuring big first pregnancy xx
