I'm day 5 postpartum C-section and I've been trying to breast feed but I haven't seen a single drop of anything coming out of me! I know most moms have their milk come in late post C-section but this is like ridiculous, not even a drop? All I have are sore nipples and a fussy baby who hates latching on me, since bottles are way easier for him.
I am still so sore from the surgery and so exhausted from taking care of my baby, even with a supportive partner, I still can't seem to sleep much. I feel like everything is working against me for milk supply, so should I even continue trying?

Thats definitely a personal choice, however if it is taking too much of a tole mentally, I would say to stop for your own good. Baby needs a healthy mama, mentally and physically

Are you still having colostrum come out? Milk can sometimes take up to a week - your body has undergone major abdominal surgery and is still in shock, you yourself are having the biggest hormone crash, cut yourself some slack!
Keep trying, your anxiety is not going to make it come any faster. It will happen when it happens. Your baby won’t starve.

I had my little one via c-section 2 years ago and to this day, I’ve never had milk come through! ❤️
Fed is best. I know it’s a big thing to breast feed but you’ve got to think of you and baby!
Feel free to message me ❤️xx

I really struggled with breastfeeding after my first c section but my second went a lot better if memory serves I think it took about a week for a good amount to come out and I also used a breast pump to help me get the flow going x

If you want to try, keep trying. It took 5-7 days for my milk to fully come in. Stay super hydrated, use a nipple balm, and pump. But if you decide not to, that’s perfectly fine. Fed is best, no matter how you do it. ❤️

I went through this exact same thing, nipple guards really helped her latch since she did take the bottle really well it was more familiar and protected me. (If you do this, put some of her saliva on the inside though so your body gets her goodies). Ultimately I was only getting up to an ounce or two a day with the pump “triple feeding” and she always came off still hungry and needing formula anyways. I had other health stuff that affected my supply anyways (so please don’t compare or think this will be you) and ultimately decided Mama with stable mental health outweighs the benefits of breast milk. She’s thriving and 2.5m, ahead of a bunch of milestones and I’m a much happier more attentive and present mama.
Again. Just sharing MY experience. You are not alone and you’ll know what is right for you and your baby better than any of us!!
The lactation consultants at the peds office were also amazing and here I am. So def at least ask about that.
