VERY sensitive 5mo will ONLY contact nap. Which is usually fine except when we’re in the car. She will become extremely disregulated and scream really really badly, even if my husbands driving and I’m in the back with her singing, holding her hand etc. It means we absolutely cannot drive anywhere as wake windows are still around 2h. Even worse when I’m driving because I feel like I can’t safely concentrate on the road with how intense the screaming is.
I’ve already tried to reduce contact naps for the past week trying everything. She has finally napped in her pram the last 2 days for the first nap (takes ages and a real struggle), but I’ve noticed it’s made her even more clingy and sensitive throughout the day and not helping with the car.
Any advice? Specifically for the car issue? I don’t mind contact naps at home.

Crying in the car can also sometimes be a fit issue. If not already I’d post a picture on Bump to Booster fb group and have them advise. It’s normal for babies to want contact naps though my son didn’t nap independently until about 8 months and was fine in the car seat for about 30-60 mins before he’d get bored lol.

My little boy always fall asleep on me for naps and bedtime but I am now able to put him down after about 10mins.
Sounds bizarre in a way, but I always take off my top before he lays on me to fall asleep and then I fold the top up and put it under his head when I put him down to keep my scent present whilst he sleeps. I sometimes see him on the monitor managing to get the top from under his head and snuggle up with it 🥹🥰

Our baby was very clingy from week 5 until 6 months then he accepted co-sleeping and naps in the cot (until 8 months at least, then cot didn't work anymore), he sleeps fine in pram. However our baby does rarely scream in the car, it makes him quite sleepy. 😅 It just shows me every baby is different so I hope for you it's just a phase and stops eventually. I know what you mean though with that scream you can't focus on driving as a mum, it makes me totally stressed out too. Fingers crossed for you!
