Is it normal ?

Hi everyone, my baby is 11 weeks 5 days old. Today he slept from 14:00 pm until 17:00 pm. He woke up because he was hungry and drank a full 10 oz (about 300 ml) bottle. Is this normal? Has anyone else's baby done this?

My baby is the same age and he often sleeps 3 hours in the day in fact yesterday he slept for 3.5 hours

The heat is likely to be playing a part in it too

Mine usually sleeps 2 to 3 hours at a time but can sleep 5 hours at night and is only 6 weeks old, the health visitor said its fine as long as she is feeding well and putting on weight with plenty of wet and dirty nappies x

I mean i wouldn’t say normal but as long as they were happy and not uncomfortable or in pain afterwards then let them crack on, the biggest issue with this is possibly over feeding x

Yeah my 10 week old sometimes does a 3 hour nap.
Possibly in preparation for a big growth spurt?

This feeling

I might come off as ungrateful or like im not cut out for motherhood with this one but why don't we warn each other beforehand about this emotional situation? I wish someone had briefed me about how someday i'll be watching my son sleep and ill break down crying because of how intense the feeling of admiration is, and how love this big is heavy and feels a little too much like grief. it would have been nice to know that i would be so consumed with this love that has nowhere to go. there's no little pamphlet explaining how "you'll never know another love like it" genuinely means that it will overflow from you and your child and there will be nowhere else for it to go, and it will feel so intense and like too much but in the most beautiful way.
anyway, i think we should try and find a better way to articulate just how intense that feeling can be, so other new moms don't feel insane when they join the club

Contact naps

VERY sensitive 5mo will ONLY contact nap. Which is usually fine except when we’re in the car. She will become extremely disregulated and scream really really badly, even if my husbands driving and I’m in the back with her singing, holding her hand etc. It means we absolutely cannot drive anywhere as wake windows are still around 2h. Even worse when I’m driving because I feel like I can’t safely concentrate on the road with how intense the screaming is.

I’ve already tried to reduce contact naps for the past week trying everything. She has finally napped in her pram the last 2 days for the first nap (takes ages and a real struggle), but I’ve noticed it’s made her even more clingy and sensitive throughout the day and not helping with the car.

Any advice? Specifically for the car issue? I don’t mind contact naps at home.

Nappies

This is my opinion on nappies that I thought may be good to do for expecting Mums (uk version)

Mamia (Aldi) awesome cheap and rlly good
Pampers good have no complaints only purchase these if we’ve ran out of them when out and about just on expensive side
I’ve forgot make of the Lidl ones but the ones that begin with L I’ve honestly never ever had a good experience with these my baby’s nappy leaks every night when wearing them

Colostrum

Are people collecting colostrum even if they intend to breastfeed?

I know it doesn’t always work out as planned, but my plan would be to pump if for whatever reason I can’t breastfeed straight away, unsure whether to bother harvesting

Baby hates the car seat

My 11 week old hates the car seat. She’ll cry if she’s put in it for the whole journey. She’ll spit the dummy out too. Even if she’s asleep when I transfer her, she’ll wake up and cry.

She needs a good few minutes when I take her out to calm down and stop crying.

Any tips, products, anything at all I can do to help? I’ve had to pull over a few times to calm her down as it was hard to drive with her screaming.

Thrush!

I’m due to give birth in 2 weeks and my labia has started to get sore and red and itchy. I’m gutted, last thing I want is to feel this and have my baby born any moment.

Has anybody experience this before? I have cream but is there a quicker way of getting rid of this.
