Hi everyone! I’m a mum to a 2-month-old baby boy. Before having him, I used to go to the gym at least four times a week or go for long walks. Right now, I feel like I can’t do anything. Because I’m breastfeeding, even going for a walk feels like a huge deal—I never know when he’s going to cry for food. I also can’t go to the gym because I moved here from Italy 12 years ago, and with my family over there, I have very little support nearby (my partner’s family helps a bit, but it's limited).
I spend most of my days sitting on the sofa, watching sunny days go by. I feel emotionally drained and really bad about myself, but I just don’t know what to do to start feeling better. To top it off, my baby will only sleep on me—if I try to put him in his carrycot, he lasts a few minutes before screaming again. Has anyone experienced anything similar? Do you have any tips?

Just here to say I am a former athlete and consistent gym goer and this is truly hard 😪 EBF my 3rd girl and I have literally no time. I did get some dumbbells that are great to use at home for a quick workout 💪🏼

I started to experience similar and that's when my partner encouraged me to get out anyway.
My lad is EBF. And to begin with I'd go into our local town with him for a walk around the shops and when he started to show signs of hunger (before crying) I'd head to a coffeeshop, grab a drink and a treat and just sit and feed him in the cafe watching the world go by. Or read on my kindle.
As time has gone by I've changed the locations, built up going for walks and today I've been for a 6.5km walk around the local reservoir with my 5month lad.
No where near what I use to be able to walk. And believe me when I say my feet and legs huuurt. But they hurt the same way they use to hurt after my big walks.
As such I saw a glimmer of before me... But merging with new me.
After the walk I had lunch in a cafe with some friends. He didn't want to sleep anywhere but on me, so I cut up all my food whilst he fussed/cried. And then once it was all bite size easy to pick up with a fork I let him fall asleep on me.😅

I felt this when my son was around that age (he’s now nearly 18 months) and all I can say is it gets so much better. I was the same I used to go to the the gym 5 times a week before I was pregnant. I don’t go as often now just when I can but one thing that helped me was just going out on walks and as they get older they keep you more active and on your feet which I think helped me as I gained nearly 5 stone and have lost all of that now without a proper strict gym routine. I also breastfed my son so I know how challenging it can be. Is there any fitness classes where you can take your baby with you? It’s worth a look as there’s a few places in my area that do that which are really good so it’s worth a look. I hope you’re ok it is hard❤️🩹 but honestly it does get better (it’s easier me saying it as people used to say it to me and I could never see it) but as time went on I found it did get easier and I’ve found myself again xx

I can relate in soo many ways! This season is sooo hard! As a Former gym lover who went daily and swaw 3x a week, it csn be a big adjustment...Give yourself grace. I recently started doing home workouts and that's been a great way for me to ease back into a workout routine! I can share my faves on YouTube if you'd like!
I also have a super fussy girl who only slept on me for thr first 3 months, turned out she had a dairy allergy/cows milk protein allergy and I had to cut dairy from my diet and shes a completely different girl. Idk if thats what's going on with your little guy but its worth looking into. She had
extreme gas, fussiness, constant blow outs, screaming when I put her down, her little bum was sooo raw that no diaper rash creams were cutting it, and when she started having small amounts of blood in her diaper doctors recommended I quit dairy and it took a few weeks for it all to clear my milk and shes been sooo much better ever since! Big hugs, I hope you and little guy find some releif!

That's exactly how i feel. I went hiking a lot and worked out. I use to skateboard and rock climb before my baby. Pregnancy messed me up. The extra weight and the joint sensitivity. I am 7 months postpartum, but i cant do much. I have to have two surgeries on my knees. The most I can do is ride a stationary bike and swim. I dont have people to watch my baby so I can swim for two hours to get a good workout in.

I was the same but I found youtube very helpful, loads of really short workouts. This morning I only had like 15mins so put my earphones in and turned up the techno house and had a 15min crazy dance sesh 😂 whilst thinking to myself if anyone see's me right now, they will think I've lost my mind 😂 felt amazing after!

I was active too during pregnancy and starting to get back into it now 10 weeks PP.
I have found parent & baby Crossfit Classes I can go to twice a week. And I also try to go to the gym once during the week end and once one morning during the week (without baby).
I exclusively breastfeed too, but I express milk once a day (before bed) to get enough for a spare bottle (otherwise I freeze it) for my partner to be able to feed our little one while I am exercising.
I am sure you'll find a way that works for you. Starts small, even a 10 minutes walk outside with a baby carrier might be all you need at first to build some confidence.
I was a bit anxious at the beginning, but I started with walks close to home so I can rush back if needed and little by little started going out for longer!
