Just a vent ! Looking to see if anyone can relate or make me feel better as feeling alone with it .. currently last day being abroad on holiday with the family (7 of us) and my 1 year old daughter! Feeling so overwhelmed and disheartened.. she did so well with the travelling and the first day then it just went down hill.. she has been grizzly from the time she wakes up every day till bed time, with constant entertainment she can be ok but not for very long, I’ve taken her to the room, changed things up, done naps different each time and she’s just not happy. I think she picked up something as she’s losing her voice, had a slight temperature at one point but went down, her fingers have been in her mouth constantly so also may be teething, but no medication has worked. It’s been so hard to watch her miserable, not eating much, not wanting to be in the high chair so we had to split dinners with some people going to dinner and others watching her as it’s been too much for her. My family have been great, helped out and been supportive. As I’ve looked around the resort, yes babies were crying but parents just seemed like they could soothe their babies, some families looked like they were having the best time, I just felt like we were the only couple really struggling. My family said she hasn’t been too bad and are considering a holiday next year.. I just don’t feel validated at all.

Oh babe my heart goes out for you, it’s so sad when something you get yourself all excited for disappoints you. Sorry your family aren’t validating you, they’re clearly not feeling the brunt of her fussiness like you are. We go on holidays in a fortnight and I’m nervous about this too!

I think you as the mum would always feel stronger than everyone else. I think them saying it hasn't been too bad is actually a good thing, they didn't get scared off haha. I know that I find my little one's fussiness in public waaay more distressing than other people.
We've been going to the beach recently and it is usually fine but always ends up with my boy getting upset and insisting on doing something he is not allowed so we leave the beach with him crying. It really brings me down whereas my mum doesn't seem too bothered. She doesn't love it of course but says 'well he is still young' and we just go. I try to be a bit more like her and not stress out immediately if baby is crying in public. But I totally appreciate that you are there for a limited time only and you just want one day of peace and quiet. I tell myself that's just how it is unfortunately and I didn't get one of those calm babies that sleep on the beach all day and that's okay haha
