Baby hates car seat (maxi cosi pebble)

Hi everyone!

Our 4.5-week-old absolutely hates her car seat. The longest she'll tolerate it is around 10 minutes before she's sobbing her heart out and gets so hot, clammy and really worked up.

Yesterday I took her (and her car seat – a Maxi-Cosi Pebble 360) into Mamas & Papas to have the fit checked. They said her head appears to be a little too small for the newborn inserts, so it falls back slightly, which surprised me! She's almost 8lb and was born full term.

She also has some jaw tension, which we're seeing an osteopath for, so I'm wondering if that could be contributing too.

I'm now considering buying a different car seat, but I'm not sure if that's the answer. She doesn't seem to like lying flat, and the Pebble 360 has three recline positions, so we already have it in the most upright position that's appropriate.

Has anyone experienced anything similar or found that changing car seats made a difference? Or would you stick with the one we have? I'll add a photo of how she sits in it in the comments.

I hated this car seat, the fit was awful and she was chin on chest whenever she was in it, I bought a avionaut cosmo 2.0 and she sits so much better and doesn't scream in it.

We have this one. My LO gets okay with it but when the newborn insert was in it it just never seemed right or if it would be comfortable. Much better now he’s a bit bigger and it’s been removed.

Sleep training

My girl is about to turn 8 months and I want to get her sleeping through the night without the cry it out method. Anyone else have had success with sleep training they can share?

venting

i feel like my opinion doesnt matter. if i want to call the doctor about something that worries me its just ‘oh she’s fine, you always do that, that’s what the matter with you’ or did i ask his mom first. its always someone else telling me that she’s fine when i think she’s not. that i just get overlooked or ignored because im a first time mom.

Having a hard time FTM

I am 4 months PP and it’s been such an emotional roller coaster. I had the baby blues pretty bad the first 2 weeks but I slowly started to feel better. The next were weeks I could still feel it lingering. I started to go out more once I got cleared at my 6 weeks PP appt to start feeling a sense of myself again and it worked. Then I feel like I started to have some resentment towards my husband cause he can just leave and enjoy his time away but I am always worried about the baby. We have been arguing a lot more since the baby came is just exhausting cause I know we care about each other and want this to work but it’s just back and forth it seems like sometimes. I recently went back to work about a month ago and I am still having mixed feelings about it. It’s nice being with other people other than my family but I miss my little girl so much when I am gone and feel guilty sometimes for not missing her enough. Last but not least, I feel like I’m
Not doing enough as a mother. I work 40 hours a week and sometimes I would like to go out to see a movie or golf but my mother would have to watch her and I feel bad that she has to watch her so much cause she watches her when I work. I feel like I am becoming a new person since becoming a mom and don’t get me wrong I love it but at the same time I don’t want to lose myself and resent my daughter later for having to give up different things. I know this is more of a rant but I just feel alone sometimes even when it feels like I have a village behind me.

Bath seat?

When did you guys stop using a bath seat for your little ones? We’ve kept using a bath seat for our 17 month old as he didn’t have any issues with it etc but now all he wants to do is climb out of it? How is your safely transition them out of using one? Any suggestions?

How do you all do it?

How do you let your baby’s daddy make mistakes? Things that you know don’t work or things that you know LO likes, I try to share these with my partner and he just gets angry at me and he thinks I’m being negative towards him, saying that he is doing it wrong.

I EBF and do all the night times and 98% of the daytime naps. My LO also contact naps during the day only (ever since being a baby and having a tongue tie, LO has always fallen asleep during a feed), which hasn’t been a choice, as LO will wake immediately when put down.

Just now my partner offered to take LO for a nap, after we had argued, as I needed a shower and he was talking loudly towards me while holding the baby, as he was walking upstairs. He put LO in the cot and then slammed the bathroom door to go for a wee before being nap trapped.
I tried to say that being loud and noisy isn’t helpful before putting LO down for a sleep and he got angry at me for it (while holding LO).
So how do you all just let things slide, when you know that you will have to deal with the aftermath of LO being an overtired/frustrated baby later on.
How do you do it?

Feeling like a failure

My little one is 18 months in a couple of days and I think I can count on one hand when he’s had a couple nights decent sleep. He’s never really slept through the night and is doing it more where he’s waking up and no matter what I do to settle him, he’s then awake for a couple of hours then back to sleep. No matter if he has a bad nap or a decent nap throughout the day. I feel like I’m failing and wondering if anyone else has had this?
