Antenatal Health Visitor appointment for second pregnancy/baby???

I am due a antenatal home HV appointment tomorrow for my second pregnancy. I never even saw a HV until after the birth of my first baby.

Has anyone else been offered or had one of these for a second baby? What happened at the appointment? Is this a new thing? We are located in the south/East.

The letter is very vague and just says it’s to discuss my current pregnancy.

We do not have additional support or contact in place from any other agencies and haven’t see a HV since my first son’s 10 month review.

We had one with our first baby who was born in June. Seems to be the norm now as everyone we spoke to has had them

I never had one with my first but did with my second pregnancy. The HV just came and went through different things such as my previous pregnancy and birth and had a look at where baby will be sleeping and just asked how I was doing x

In all my 4 pregnancies never once have I had a HV come see me before baby was born. And my youngest was born last month

I had it with my first and declined it with my second. They just ask how you’re feeling, where baby will sleep, how you plan to feed, do you know where local support is etc x

I had one with my first born in 2024, it was just a routine thing so a bit of a chat and some leaflets, can't even remember what for now. Didn't ask to see where baby would be sleeping or anything though I've heard some do

Breast aversion

I went back to work when baby was 8 weeks old and pumped/gave bottle. He now doesn’t want to breastfeed anymore despite never having had issue with it before. He gets angry if I so much as offer him the boob. He’ll still breastfeed at night if he’s nice and sleepy but as soon as he’s properly awake he’ll refuse to latch and start crying. I feel so rejected

Building Our Registry

Hi mamas!
I'm currently expecting my first baby girl and I trying to building our registry for items that I absolutely need and will use. I've heard a lot of different opinions of what I will need and use and then others are different, which I don't know what to get and it's starting to stress me out! Any recommendations and suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Do you count down till nap and bedtime?

I was talking to a friend saying how some days I’m looking at the clock waiting for nap or bedtime and apparently they don’t do that. I love my kid but i like my breaks haha especially cause she’s never asleep too long and has grumpy days.

Own room?

Is it safe and okay for me to put baby boy in his own room now he’s 6 months next week? My partner is so loud and gets up early that he is waking him up so much.

4 year old has stopped sleeping

Just as our 1 year old has started sleeping.

A year of an average of 4-6 hours sleep a night I am losing grip on reality 🥲.

I'm finding it so hard to not flip out at my 4 year old when she wakes up.

We used to sit or lay with her, read to her, stroke her hair, if she woke in the night. Then one night she woke almost every hour, which went on for nearly a week. When we snapped she admitted she was doing it because she wanted us to stay with her.

Completely understandable for a four year old. Not something I can do as I need to sleep. She cant come in our bed either as we have tried, she just doesnt fall asleep for hours. Also cant do as we need sleep.

Now when she wakes we cant do the nice gentle things, as she will just keep waking and wanting them allll night. The only way is to just get in and get out as fast as possible.

Last night she got us up 5 times because she wanted her blanket put back on. I'd love tooo! But now I cant tonight as thats the next thing she is using.

Please help. I love her.

I am too tired to be nice to anyone. I want to be nice to her!! I want to solve it!! Everytime I am nice in the night she wakes up 5 times.

Baby is also teething.

I think a lor about getting hospitalised so I can rest 🥲

Baby only settling when on me, not when laying down

My baby is only 6 days old, so i know there isn't really going to be a routine yet, but our little girl doesnt seem to be settling when putting her down. Only once has she settled down and slept for over an hour in the next to me crib during the day and i had a nap in the bed at the same time. Otherwise during day she will go in a moses basket.
She will settle on my chest but as soon as we go to put her down flat, in a moses basket/next to me crib, she doesnt settle or she just becomes awake.
She is a very content baby, its just trying to get into a routine if settling her, as atm she def doesnt sleep alot, like other babies would. Our first baby pretty much from day one would feed and then sleep for 2 to 3 hours, wake up for another feed and same again.
Also my partner brought one if those cushions babies can lay in that are tilted up at the head of the cushion and they are supposed to help with reflux/gas. I dont mind her being in this during the day for short bursts, but when he has been up in the night with her, he has put her in this cushion after a feed or to settle and she goes to sleep for an hour or so. She looks super comfy in it, but i see online that they need to be completely flat to sleep and something like this cushion can cause SIDs or risks.
I have said i dont like her being in it during the night, but he sees it as though well it really settles her and if she sleeps, she sleeps. He is not thinking of the risks.
