Going back to work as a new Single Mum

Hi girlies šŸ’›

I’d really love your input right now. As a recently separated, soon-to-be divorced mom of one, I’m starting to look for work again and trying to figure out what makes the most sense for me and my son.

Right now, I feel like I have two main options:
• Stay home and possibly nanny other kids
• Get a more traditional job (3 days in office, 2 days at home)

For those of you who nanny or care for kids — how do you handle things like vacations, sick days, or just needing time off?

And for those who went back to a more ā€œnormalā€ job — what was that transition like? What were your biggest struggles, and what are you most proud of since going back?

I’d really appreciate any insight or experiences you’re willing to share 🫶

Biggest struggle for me going to a ā€œnormal jobā€ was adjusting to new routines, figuring out nursing/ pumping more at work, and dealing with a LOT of illness with daycare. Once we got past the first 3 months it’s been great and a fantastic anchor for both of us. As someone who is also going through a separation I don’t know how I’d make it without daycare and her amazing teachers!

I work at a childcare center as a lead teacher and I’m able to take time off as needed for illness, vacations, mental health days, appointments, etc. My youngest comes with me and will until kindergarten starts this fall!

Who is in the wrong?

Car seat has been in my car for the last week. Husband switched it over this morning to take our baby to nursery but didn't tell me. I left the house to pick him up this afternoon and the car seat was obviously missing. Had to hand (upset) baby back to nursery and go back and get it.

We do have another car seat in the house which he could have taken, but he took the one out of my car.

I'm angry but should I be? He says I should have checked the car seat was in the car before I left but I had no reason to think it wouldn't be! Am I expected.to check every single time, when he could have just told me he took it out šŸ™„

relationship breakdown

ladies, I am so stuck. me and my partner have been close to breaking up a few times due to online infidelity on his part, for the sake of our little one and him saying he didn't wanna lose me we stayed together.. but now I'm just ugh, I'm so scared to leave because there's no way I can afford my home by myself - UC probably won't help with the majority of my rent as I'm in a 3 bed, but because my other son's dad claims the CB he's not recognised as living with me (long story!) my little man is breastfed, and just I don't know what to do. 😭
I'm a bit messy, always have been and I try to do as much tidying as I can but it's never good enough and it seems that he holds no accountability for his actions in this relationship and that it's all me.
any advice? :(

Family members overstaying their welcome

Anyone else’s family members visit and just not…leave? My mother came over to see the kids this afternoon, kids are now in bed, and she’s still just sat here? This is mine and my husbands time and she just hangs about, telling us pointless information, never shutting tf up. Pls tell us how to kindly tell her to f off.

Caught my boyfriend out

7 weeks since my second c section and I have just caught my partner out looking at naked girls and talking to them on his phone.

I hate my body as it is and am ashamed of it and now he’s done this..I’m so angry, I’m heart broken. I didn’t feel good enough as it was and now I feel so worthless.

Why am I not good enough, worst thing is if I hadn’t of caught him how much longer would he of lied to me😢

Influencers and homeschool

Hot take maybe?
Anyone else find it odd that social media has become so performative that we have so many mom influencers talk about homeschooling (doing learning activities) their child meanwhile the child is 2-3 years old.. like yeah I fear that’s just called parenting lol saying you’re homeschooling because you taught your kid the ABC’s is actually wild to me because why is it now being treated like going above and beyond or as if they’re making a specific choice to do these things. Like if they didn’t choose to ā€œhomeschoolā€ (probably so they can make content about it) would they just not be teaching their kids these things lol (this obviously doesn’t apply to school age kids that are actually doing homeschool)

I guess the bigger picture is how odd it is to watch content creators make a spectacle out of everything they can so that they can make money off of it, I hope it most moms can see it for what it is and don’t feel like they aren’t doing enough.
