Candles

Very random one,

Does anyone have any recommendations for a cheapish candle?

Open to scents just wanting to have a look ๐Ÿ˜‚

Kissing baby

So many parents tell visitors or others to not kiss their newborn due to HSV risk and your childโ€™s developing immune system. What is the common age people change this rule? Or do you not ever outside of yourself/partner? Wondering whatโ€™s reasonable :)

C section next week

Iโ€™m going in to have my elective section on the 13th August. Iโ€™m yet to pack my bag.

Can anyone give ideas on what I need to take with me? Or anything they know that helped them? Iโ€™ve seen people talking about taking gum

NEW BIRTHDAY TRADITION

Hello everyone!!!!!!!!!

My grandads bday is tomorrow August 7th and mine is August 8th. Since he is no longer with us, August 7th is always so hard for me as I await my day. This yearโ€ฆ.. instead of crying I want to do things differently. If you share an August 7th birthday with my grandfather, please comment your name below.

Tomorrow afternoon once I have plenty of names, I will randomly draw one via online system. If your name is drawn, you can choose between $50 cashapp or a cake OR $50 food gift card to be sent to you electronically/doordash!

GOD BLESS! Comment comment!

WINNER WILL BE ANNOUNCED TOMORROW!

Quick question

Hi!! New to the group, I had an emergency c section on the 24th, and me and my daughter are doing great!!

My first was a vaginal birth so Iโ€™m in no manโ€™s land when it comes to c section healing. Iโ€™m not quite 2 weeks pp yet, and from what I can tell my incision looks fine. I can barely even tell itโ€™s there. Thereโ€™s no redness, bleeding, or drainage and very minimal pain.

I will say Iโ€™ve noticed a smell when I lift the skin foldโ€ฆ embarrassing I know, but I live in central PA and itโ€™s EXTREMELY humid and Iโ€™ve been sweating even just being inside. It doesnโ€™t smell like infection.. it just kinda stinks. Could me sweating be what the smell is from?? Iโ€™m showering daily and was told by my doctor to not actively wash the incision, just to let soap run over it. Iโ€™m washing the โ€œskin foldโ€ as good as possible without getting soap on my incision site. Is the smell normal if Iโ€™ve been a little sweaty?? Itโ€™s gets hot in my room and Iโ€™m sweating at night too. Should I be showering twice a day instead of just before bed?? I sent a message to my doctor when I noticed it yesterday, but it usually takes them around 2-4days to get back to me.

Again, Ive got no idea what Iโ€™m doing in terms of just showering daily and making sure my clothes donโ€™t rub on my incision site. Any advice would be so appreciated!!

Health Visitor Transition

Approaching the end of our midwife care and being assigned our health visitor on Monday. I had a difficult pregnancy and quite a traumatic birth and the support from my Midwife and midwife assistant has been a life line - literally crying at the thought that our journey with them is over. Is this completely pathetic? Understand them being amazing is just their job but feel really nervous about starting this next chapter without them / feel heart broken to lose that contact with them. Has anyone else felt this way?
