( I know there is exceptions of course such as kids on the spectrum and arfid ) . I have heard this topic before and I’m curious on others opinions !

I think children pick up learned behaviours, and naturally if parents are picky then it falls on the kids too. However I do think things like you suggest and allergies etc can also cause it. There’s also an element of ‘laziness’ in parents giving in to their children and allowing the behaviour in the first place.

Not really no.
I for one believe babies in gestation impact the cravings a person experiences while pregnant,
and that babies even as newborns come out with personal preferences more than external influences have a huge impact.
I’m sure if they are only exposed to specific foods, or unprocessed foods they’ll find what they prefer most within the options presented to them, but I don’t think it’ll always stick as their life long preferences.

My eldest is a fussy eater and I gave him a lot of variety as a baby and he ate everything and then he got bigger and realised he has free will and became picky 🙄.
I heard a quote something along the lines of ‘your kids are picky because they’ve never had to go without’ and that changed my perspective a little bit.
He’s almost 4 and getting back into trying new foods so I don’t know if being fussy can just be a phase for some kids.

My eldest absolutely loved all sorts of food/ flavours just like us adults but soon as she turned 5 she became picky and very selective of foods. Now she’s turning 7 she is starting to slowly try new foods and is enjoying it. She doesn’t have much sugary/ unhealthy foods in her diet never really has. I think it’s just kids being kids and as for my youngest he’s 11months and absolutely loves food and can’t get enough so we shall see with him. 🩷

My now almost 2 year old use to eat anything and everything. Now he's in the fruit snacks, crackers, cookies phase, but we still try to expose him to lots of different foods. We still offer the food I make for dinner every day. I try to give him little portions so as not to overwhelm him.
