I refuse to let my child be a gamer

I know video games arent inherently bad but I don’t like it as a hobby. I don’t like the idea of my kid being addicted to a video game and spending time staring at a screen. I know everything in moderation but I know way too many adults who are addicted and spend hours playing. I’d much rather have my kid do sports, music, or arts.

I think it's exactly as you've said and everything in moderation.
I won't mind much if my kiddo wants to play a videogame, but I want her to be well-rounded.

I understand everything in moderation but at the same time if it is something my child enjoys, I wouldn't want to tell them they couldn't.

Totally agree personally. Good news, here no one plays videogames so at least my kids won't be influenced by their dad to be players... Hope it helps me ahahah

I haaaaaaate video games and I do think they’ve replaced better hobbies for a lot of people, but I also won’t just outright ban them if my kids show interest. Just limit them a lot and keep your kids engaged in other activities as much as possible

Gamers can have more than one hobby, i play games and love walking at the park sowing cooking. My husband also plays video games and he enjoyed playing football golf and basketball in high school and still plays when he get the chance now. A healthy balance is good. I love playing video games its such a great way to pass the time. Especially when you enjoy multiple types of games like puzzle adventure shooter platform. There is a huge range to choose from and it can help your imagination grow and express yourself in so many ways.

I never played video games and neither did my spouse so I think it’ll be pretty easy/natural to avoid the video game thing. Which I strongly prefer lol
I just never got the appeal of playing them and honestly I don’t want to buy anything video game related ever either if I can help it 😂

My husband plays, and it's pretty much his only hobby. He says he'd love to have a 3D printer, but other expenses have come up, so we just haven't been able to invest in one yet. He just finished "Satisfactory" and it's been his destresser during our chaotic and difficult year. He's also pretty good at knowing when he's playing a game too often, which I appreciate. I'm glad it's not his whole identity.

Yeah that’s a no go for our kids too, too dopamine frying, too easy to get addicted, too easy to become isolated, not a hobby you can get fresh air and be outside with. There’s just way too many other cool more valuable hobbies imo for me to be fostering one like video games

And my husband was a gamer, he had a hard time self policing when he was going overboard and we had one too many arguments about how selfish and annoying it was and how it just ruins the vibe of the whole house and long story short we no longer have any gaming systems in our home 😅 sorry not sorry

I think saying no too adamantly leads to the opposite of what you want. Thats what happened to my husband. His mom was anti video games and he would sneak them at his friends house and then in college got WAY too into them. Now he does it as just a hobby, but it was a major point of contention between them for years.

Spanking is abuse?

To the people that classify spanking your children as abuse - if your friend spanks their child as a form of discipline, are you calling child’s services to report them?

Is it wrong to hope that people around you (aka your village) should support you e.g. Offer to babysit once in a while etc

I was talking to a friend today to say we waited so long to have our first child because I wanted to be ready mentally to have a child as we didn't expect help. Bear in mind we have lots of family and friends around us so I said to her I'm a little disappointed that not one person has really reached out with an offer of babysit. Her response was you aren't entitled to expect other people to babysit. I wasn't expecting hence I have not asked anyone to babysit but just hoping someone would be nice enough to say why not have a break that's all!

Am I over exaggerating??

So my man commented on one of his female friends post of her son showing off his ball skills .. he said “does he have skills or is he just talented like his mom” …… and idk why yall but im taking that a way. Especially because I told him he didn’t compliment me all day and you figure if he’s going to compliment a women especially about their mothering skills he would compliment me……..idk yall I feel a way , am I overreacting?

I love being a boy mom 🥰🤭

So my 9 month old just gave me a hug and asked for a kiss * he said mama kiss 😭 aaaghhhhhhhhh 🤭I’m running around the house like a toddler 😂😂 even if he tires me out everyday and pulls my hair and scream for fun and want me to pick him for 6 hours a day , I mean even if he prefers to hang with dad and comes to me for food and comfort when he falls down and yeah he started walking so that means he’s using those little legs for their for. And likes to open the toilet and I have to wash it everyday and he likes to eat dirt when we play outside and I am basically he’s shadow because I’m trying to keep him alive 😭 I love being a boy mom

HOT TAKE ALERT

If you want to homeschool your child(ren) you should have to have a degree in education

Great example as to why 🤡

Baby cries A LOT

My baby cries WHENEVER he goes in the pram or car seat. I have taken him into the shop to ensure he is positioned in the car seat correctly and even the shop assistant was shocked at his reaction. He also really kicks off whenever I have to change his nappy or get him dressed / undressed or into his sleep sack or when I have to wipe his face / hands after he eats.

It’s exhausting as I have to put so much effort into making these activities ‘fun’ but it doesn’t work! I’ve tried every single toy you can think of for the car seat, played baby songs (the happy song by Imogen seems to give him 60 seconds of relief), I sit in the back with him and have my partner drive (where possible), I try to distract him when changing him or give him things to play with and sing to him.

I hate it as I try so hard with him and just want him to be happy!

I’m sure the neighbours think I’m the worst mum in the world as it feels as if he is constantly crying 😭

Is this a ‘phase’ (he has been like this since birth) or do I just have a really *spicy* baby? 😭

Interestingly enough, he is a happy boy in the sling!

Does anyone have a similar baby?
