Has anyone has this experience? My baby is 6weeks old. He has not pooped in 9 days. I have seen the GP 3 times and their recommendation is to let him poop on his own as the laxatives are too strong for him.
I do the usual tummy rub and bicycle exercise. But he just farts alot.

I was prescribed laxatives for my son at a similar age, I’d see if you can see a different doctor but my son was prescribed lactulose and it worked great he still has it now on occasion if he gets a bit backed up x

Is he BF or formula? 7 days of no poo is classed as constipation so I'm surprised they've not looked at any milk protein issues especially if he is farting. Are his farts smelly at all?
My GP prescribed lactulose to help my little one go and also changed her to a different formula she was struggling to poo but was farting a lot (they were smelly)

Is this not normal for them? My LO is 11 months now and only poops once every 7-9 days and has done since birth. My gp said as long as that is their normal, it's fine. I worried myself silly for ages though. I used frida windys and everything to help him along, but once he learned how to poop and which muscles to use, he hasn't had any issues with constipation or trapped wind, just the way he is.

When my baby didn’t poo for 3 days we got her some ready made kendamil bottles as they work as a laxative. My baby is breast and formula combi so this worked fine for us and we keep some in now.

My LO (5 weeks/mainly bf) is going through the same thing, but the GP has just prescribed laxatives. Have you spoken to your HV to see if they can recommend anything? Sending love - it’s so hard seeing them so uncomfortable!

I would try a bottle of ready made formula, with my first she would go daily and longest I think without was 2 - 3 days and was in agony and the bath helped and some ready feed done the trick. Could be worth a try?

If he’s exclusively breastfed it’s normal to go up to 10 days without a poo. Not sure about formula though. Once my baby started solids she went over 10 days without a poo and gp prescribed laxido.
