Hey everyone, so I’m 39 weeks today and I’ve become really frightened about having a vaginal birth. I’m worried that I’ll panic when labour becomes painful because I have a very low pain tolerance. I don’t feel that I can cope with a vaginal birth the closer it’s getting and feel like I’d maybe like to request a planned C-section. Do you think this is still possible or have I left it too late? I feel as though I will panic so much I won’t be able to push and will end up having a c section anyway.

I always thought the cut off point for a c section was 39/40 weeks? Depends I guess on your hospital, but my partner had a c section due to birthing 2 big babies naturally eldest ended up in nicu on life support and middle child had shoulder dyscosia. So with our third baby they recommended a c section for 38 weeks. She’s 9 weeks and healthy.. u could always ask x

I don’t think it’s ever too late to opt for a section, it may be a little different as I was on the induction ward and she was probably high priority but a lady I was on with asked specifically for a c-section and they had her in the next day 🥰

It's never too late. You can turn up at the hospital already in labour and say you want a c section. You'd likely get some push back, but if you're happy to stand your ground and state your reasons why, then it's possible at any time. I would contact your midwife now and let her know your feelings have changed and ask to have a pre op appointment

I decided to have a csection at 40+2 and had it at 40+3. Would have been later but they had a slot for the next day.

Remember you do have pain relief options ☺️

Never too late if it’s what you really want, I opted for a section at 39 weeks with my first and the section was booked for 4 days later 🥰
Just make sure it’s definitely what you want as if you go on to have more children and decide you want a VBAC it’s a little more complicated/risky x
