Me and my baby dad have been on and off for 3 years. He has an issue with drugs and alcohol and after splitting up for 7 months he got me back by “changing”. He has been an angel for months and as soon as I find out I’m pregnant he has gone back to the old him. I have moved out of the house and back in with my mum and ended the relationship. He has said to abort (which I won’t be doing), saying things if I won’t be with him he doesn’t want a relationship with the baby. Then back tracking and saying he does and I’m not allowing it. It’s all very stressful and I just need some advice and someone to tell me I’m doing the right thing

It’s a very difficult situation. I’ve been in a position with a similar character but I wasn’t pregnant, we were going to try (agreed when he wasn’t on anything and great for months and months).
The situation absolutely blew up at some stage and the drinking and drugs were secretly being dabbled in, then it was drinking in the house and not going to meetings … then the arguments and abusiveness started.
At that very point, I knew that having a baby with this person was a no for me. When he wasn’t on anything he was the most incredible person but it was egg shell walking all the time if even a sip of drink came into it.
Had I have been pregnant, personally I would have been so stressed and worried about the reality. I feel for you so much.
I chose to end the relationship because the drunken behaviour was escalating and I started to notices changes in myself.
Not saying this is your situation but I think you just have to weigh up all options and realities.
That’s it, he has a history of violence to me in the past and a history of DV previously. He doesn’t even think he has done anything wrong that’s where I’m struggling xx

Addicts are selfish, manipulative liars. He yo-yo around because it makes him cruel when in come down. He will not change
Only be factual with him don't respond to any time to nonsense from him and get drawn in.
I don't agree with what you've said. If you want to be a part of your child's life you need to be well and consistent because it's not fair on a child to be subjected to anything else.
I hope you get better and can be part of our child's life. But I won't allow contact while you're so obviously unwell.

And be consistent
