I’m 37 weeks today and feel like I don’t have a good enough idea of a birth plan. How is everyone else getting along with it?
Also, what’s everyone got for postpartum care? I have a few packs of postpartum pants, pads and a peri bottle but that’s about it. Do I need much else?

I highly highly recommend the spritz for bitz! I have also brought witch hazel foam, frida mom cooling pad liners and lilets do wipes you can use. I didnt have those last few bits with my daughter and i tore upwards so i feel i wouldve really benefited from them but im excited to try them this time round and also the cooling pads i found good too. Check vinted people sell so many bits on there! With mt daughter i didnt really have a birth plan apart from knowing i didnt want the epidural and making sure i use my tens machine and this time im just going to hope for the best but i want a water birth x

Don’t stress! You cannot plan these things. Best thing is to have a couple of birth preferences (e.g. MLBU water birth and pain relief) but if you try to plan too much, you will only stress yourself out and be disappointed if it doesn’t go the way you expect. Go with the flow!

For your birth plan I’d be open minded and open to what feels good for you in the moment. If there’s anything you feel strongly about, make sure it’s noted down. Just as a few examples from mine, I have pelvic girdle pain so want the midwives to be aware of this so they can be mindful of positions. We don’t know the gender so I’d like my partner to be the first to find out and tell me.
For postpartum, I would recommend setting up a caddy for night time, 1 for the baby with wipes, nappies, spare clothes etc, but also a nice one for you too. Add your favourite snacks, biscuits, a new water bottle, new pjs, new socks. Just something to help through the nights as they can sometimes feel quite long and you absolutely deserve a little treat.
Don’t panic if you don’t have everything sorted, new things can be ordered on Amazon with next day delivery. Best of luck for the next few weeks. You’ve got this 🤍
