Not feeling excited..?

I am currently 37 + 2 and labour day is coming soon. I am not feeling very excited tbh, feel sad that my child free days are over, that my life will never be the same again and worrying that I’ll be a bad parent (and an anxious parent too).

I’ve been with my partner for 6 years, we own a house together and generally speaking we have a lot of support however I’m also concerned he isn’t growing up enough because of the support and dependency (from his family) and lack of maturity around what it’s actually going to be like having a baby. I fear he is too positive about it all and to be quite honest that really annoys me.

I’m not sleeping, I don’t feel supported and I am so uncomfortable in this heat. Ironically, the physical aspects of birth don’t worry me too much it’s just everything else!

Can someone please sense check me and tell me everything is going to be okay?!?

Before I had my little girl I was terrified of becoming a mum. I had no clue what I was doing, and as much as it was all planned I was panicking. Not about birth, I knew that was completely out of my control and I just had to go with it. I had recurring dreams throughout my pregnancy that I wouldnt feed the baby, or I would just be neglectful and forgetful. My partner is a big kid. I cannot tell you how much everything fell into place for us. My partner stepped up in a way I didnt even know he could, I fell straight into the role of mother so naturally. I had to have an emergency section, so as soon as I could start getting up and do more, you couldnt stop me from being there for my baby. It will be okay. Amd if your partner isnt stepping up in the ways you need him too, tell him. Men can be a little bit clueless, and Ive had to have some hard conversations at times, because my partner has dropped the ball at times. But you will be okay, and there is a lot of support out there if you need it too x

Hey... Just know you're not alone. I hadn't been with my partner v long before we found out I was pregnant and he is 10 years younger than me... Even now with baby he can be and say some really irritating and immature things but I've slowly had to learn to let go and just let him do him. There are times when he gets stressed and needs me to help him with baby crying, fussing etc and he won't often tell me he needs my support but he does tell me everyday what a fantastic mum I am and how I'm soo good at what I do.
For me I've been learning that not everyone is going to do what I think is best but at least we all have the babies best interest at heart.
I also felt the same way about not being child free and ultimately living life for me even 2 days before she came I was second guessing but now I cannot imagine a life without her in it.
Everything your feeling is valid and normal you just have to acknowledge it and let it pass as each hour / day brings diff emotions. That'll be the norm for a while maybe xxx

I think your thought process is healthy to be honest.
All I ever wanted was to be a mum. Ive always loved kids and been good with children but motherhood hit me harder than i expected. I thought id take it all in my stride but it was difficult, especially with a baby with colic.
Im 10 months in and shes the absolute apple of my eye. I know her, she knows me. Her dad is a massive kid and needs a boot up the backside regularly but he is totally coming into his own now and is a fantastic dad. The newborn stage in hindsight wasnt for us. Give me the little sass pants and bubbly personality any day of the week. You get by by telling yourself 'this is just a phase' at any difficult stage. My experience is it just gets better and better.

Changing poopy diaper

I’m not sure where to post this.

I work at a daycare and I am currently with the infants and one of my kids that I care for has some really bad smelling diapers. I don’t have a problem changing poopy diapers until this lo. I gag and have to stop myself from throwing up. What should I do? I’ve only had to change him once and every other time someone else has done it but I’m the lead teacher this week and I’m not sure what to do.

Need Real Advice

✨Long Post✨

I have been with my husband for 6.5 years and we have a 1 year old. My husband is honestly my best friend and love of my life. We’ve worked through a lot of childhood trauma and communication issues together and really are in one of the healthier parts of our relationship. He hasn’t ever had consistent works since we’ve been together - since we met during COVID. He is a bartender and has a hard time with management styles. He is very creative and charismatic but just struggles taking direction sometimes. I have been the sole income earner since 2 weeks before our baby was born which is really stressful. On top of that, I am a frugal person and have never had large debt before. Since being with my husband, we are now in the tens of thousands of dollars of debt. We have dipped into my retirement fund twice also to help pay off debts. He also has previous school debt, medical bills, and tax debt that he has been avoiding. WHAT DO I DO?!? I have told him many times we need to get this sorted, we need to meet with a financial advisor and figure this out. He needs a consistent and well-paying job. He knows all this but still just struggles to get motivated and moving. He is the absolute best dad and I love being with him. But is that enough?? I can’t comprehend having any more kids with him, let alone taking care of the one we’ve got on my income alone.

Please help, would love some realistic advice.

How can I get my mom to understand she needs to help with my kids?

I have twins who are 5 years old. My daughter is developing fairly normally, she's just slightly behind. My son has had serious health problems since birth and has struggled with growth, mobility, and is several years behind on all milestones. He does not speak, walks very poorly, cannot climb steps ect. My mom does not visit or help in any capacity. The children really do not understand that she's someone of any importance. They treat her with as much excitement as the grocery store checkout employee. I am in great need for rest, a second set of hands, babysitting coverage when my son is regularly hospitalized. I see everyone else with grandparents who take their grandkids for the weekend because they want to, buy them gifts, get excited to see them, take them to activities such as the park or for a meal, enjoy photographs of them, attend their achievements and activities. My mom their only grandparent has never done any of this. She lives 20 mins away and drives well. So distance or transportation is not an excuse. She is also a millionaire so it's not a financial problem. She does not contribute financially to help with her absence as a grandparent. I am exhausted to the point that I'm unsure how I will continue most of the time. I have asked her to help many many times. It's always no. She also expects me to drive her to appointments, arrange her appointments ect when she's fully capable of doing it herself. I do not have time or energy for any if this. When she does come to my home she brings bags and bags of expired food, expired formula when the babies were little, extremely worn used kids clothes that are usually completely incorrect sizes or for wrong seasons and broken toys. All of this makes a lot of work for me. I'm already beyond the garbage allowance I can throw out at my apartment every week because of medical garbage so I have to pay to have this junk removed. Most of it is not good enough to donate anywhere and even then the sorting takes up time and energy I do not have. I can't feed the kids expired food or things they do not want to eat. I've asked her over and over again to stop bringing this shit but it continues. I'm just so sad and wish I had some support.

Does anyone else ever just get mad when your significant other is sleeping when the baby finally goes to bed?

Okay mad is probably the wrong word. More like upset. My boyfriend will 7 times out of 10 be knocked out after I get our little one to bed. And it shouldn’t bother me because I know he gets up before the sun to go to work but sometimes when you’re a SAHM and all you want is him it just sucks.. (especially when the day was freaking horrible) and when you finally get to have some one on one time together he’s knocked out. And before anyone says “just wake him up” he’s literally impossible to get up 97% of the time. I feel horrible when I pester him to get up but sometimes I’m just really really lonely… so now I’m just sitting here alone listing to the dryer clink around and I just want to cry.. for no reason. He’s exhausted and know he needs his rest but it would have just been nice to have some adult human interaction today I guess… I just needed to vent any I feel like all the other people in my life either won’t reply or just won’t really care.

Is it just me or does your brain feel like it has shrunk since baby?

Hi ladies,

I don’t know if it’s just me, but since having my baby 15 weeks ago, I’ve noticed I’m now a bit “slow”, where I can’t figure out things I used to be able to. I used to be the one who fixes things, a DIY queen, could figure anything out, but now I feel like my brain just doesn’t work the way it used to! I literally don’t baby wear, because I have no clue how to do the straps and buckles on my carrier which is something I would have known how to do before baby. I have to ask my hubby for help with the straps and buckles or I can’t figure it out (even with videos!).

I can’t put together toys that need assembling, I couldn’t figure out how to strap baby in her stroller the other day, I can’t do the buckles for her car seat on my own (my hubby does it for me). It is really embarrassing and alarming, because I’ve always prided myself on being smart, but I feel like an airhead now, LITERALLY.

I know they say your brain shrinks by 60% during pregnancy, but I didn’t know it would be so blatant and obvious. Anyone else dealing with this?? Should I be worried?? Does it eventually go away??
