Does anyone else feel guilty about having a C-section? 😭

I had a C-section, and it definitely wasn’t the birth I wanted. I had everything planned out and really wanted to have a vaginal birth. I know not everything goes according to plan, and I completely understand that sometimes things happen that are out of our control. My baby girl was breech and I had low fluid, so she got stuck in that position. I also wasn’t dilated at all, so they didn’t even try to flip her. I ended up having her at 37w5d.

People think I’m being dramatic when I say I absolutely hated my C-section and wish I never had to experience it. I also hate when people tell me that “a C-section is better and easier than a vaginal birth.” Maybe that was the experience for some people, but it definitely wasn’t mine. I hated mine so much.

For a while, I felt like I failed because I couldn’t have the vaginal birth I had wanted. I feel like I’m mourning the birth experience I thought I was going to have, and that’s a really hard feeling to explain to people.
I still feel like I failed and everything at 3 months post c section

I am so incredibly happy and grateful that my baby girl is here safely, and I would make the same decision all over again to keep her safe. But that doesn’t mean I have to love how her birth happened. I can be grateful for my healthy baby while still being sad about the birth experience I lost.

You are still very freshly post partum so these feelings are also very fresh. I had an emergency c section 2 years ago and promise time is a healer. You will feel this less and less as time goes on. You are probably dealing with some birth trauma. I really wanted a vaginal birth but will be opting for a planned c section this time around because I don’t wish to go through that trauma of an emergency one again.

Not really, I feel alive.

No two birth experiences can or should be compared.

My first was an emergency section and it was awful. I really wanted a natural birth and with my second that was the plan, 20 hours in I opted for a section and it was the best experience ever hearing my LG scream and be brought straight to me (first was put to sleep). Don’t ever feel less than or that it was easier! It’s major surgery and then you have to get on with things straight away! You should be super proud of having a wonderful child, promise things will get easier as time passes x

I totally understand- I feel exactly the same ❤️so many negative feelings connected to my c-section (emergency section during Labour) and guilt is a huge one. I’m only 5 weeks PP so know it’ll likely get better, but I hate the feeling - you’re not alone xxx

I absolutely feel the same. I think these thoughts are completely valid and its okay to acknowledge that c-section is an unideal way to give birth, that it can be traumatic and jarring for the baby and for mom, that there are circumstances in which providers may rush into things with an overabundance of caution, and all of these can be true without understating how necessary it can be in certain circumstances. Hot take, you do not have to get over it in order to heal, and you being harmed by your c-section experience doesn't somehow invalidate others who had a good experience, even though people will say some stupid unnecessary things in response to your pain. I have thankfully been able to reach a place of acceptance with the help of EMDR and a therapist that specializes in maternal mental health, and I 10/10 recommend it for processing what you and your child went through. What happened will never be right, but it can be laid to rest in a way where it can't harm you anymore, you feel?

I felt the exact same way about my birth. 8m pp and I’m starting to accept that it was the best and safest way for my son to get here and as people keep reminding me, no one else can tell how my son came to be here, just that he’s happy and safe and that’s all that matters. It does take time to grieve the birth you wish you’d had so be kind and patient with yourself 💕💕

im 5 months pp and I was in the same boat as you. I was so anxious and depressed after my c section. I didn't have a great experience altogether. the hospital was great but I was sad about having it.

it wasnt until I heard other birth stories that were way worse than mine and I was like..... ooooh boy! it put things into perspective. I sorta got over it and I'm seeing a great pelvic floor therapist.

im not gonna downplay my experience and I dont wanna compare, but omg did so many others had it worse. all I can focus on is my babys health and development milestones now.

I'm going out with other new moms, going to mommy and classes, and just trying to change my diet right now.

Painful sex?

I’m 8 weeks post c section and have tried to have sex twice but it’s extremely painful around the opening and also a sharp pain deep inside. Has anyone else experienced this and does it get better?

What are you all doing in this heat?!

Just wondering what you’re all managing to do in this heatwave to keep sane and not feel cooped up?! I’m managing to get out for an early walk with my 6 week old in the pram, but feeling incredibly limited during the rest of the day due to the heat and walking/ getting anywhere comfortably with my baby! Anyone else feeling this way?

Sleep anxiety

Anybody else pregnant and just so sleep deprived you feel like you're going insane?

I've got majorly bad sleep anxiety as it is and im getting about 3/4 hours every night. im exhausted! I work full time and have a nearly 6 year old as well. I'm bursting out into tears a lot, cant think rationally, forgetting everything, snapping at everyone, my energy levels are shocking can hardly help with the housework and cooking so naturally, we're all eating shit and the house is disgusting. My partner helps best he can but he works full time also and its a physical job 🤷‍♀️

What can I do to help my sleep? I've got a pregnancy pillow which doesn't seem to help and the weather probably isn't helping either. Desperate at this point 😅

Baby dropping at 29+3

Hi this is probs nothing but I’m 29+4 today and I just keep getting a weird feeling my baby is coming soon , I’m a FTM so I’m not sure if my body is trying to tell me something or if I’m just over thinking it but today I was sitting on my sofa and I like I really need to pee again (not unusual I know) then I go pee and I got like this strange kind of relief feeling and when I stood up I felt my baby very very low like almost by my pelvic bone and now it feels and looks low - as in you know when you suck in your tummy I can do that now and I’m flat and I just have this like hard lump at the bottom of my belly - I’m not small by any means but i tried to do this before to see my baby’s size once and I literally couldn’t suck in anything it was so hard - I’m typing this at almost 4am so apologies if it’s making no sense but I don’t know what to think, I’ve been losing my mucus plug for around 2 weeks now and I know it’s regenerating but just wondering if anyone has experienced similar? Google telling me I could be close to giving birth or not at all so who knows
