I’m scheduled for an induction Tuesday and my baby isn’t even here yet and I already have family making plans to come in town to see the baby, my family member texted me this :
“Hey, baby. Me & my husband are coming to see y'all next month, September 16th-20th! Can't wait to see y'all and DemBabies!”
I’m not even sure how my delivery will be like or my healing process, i already told immediate family I will not be having visitors at the hospital or at home until we are ready but I’m a little confused on how to respond to this message because it sounds like they already booked a flight or something? I don’t even plan on announcing when he is born because I’m not stressing over these people atp. I find it kinda rude them making dates and plans without even asking me. They never met my 2 year old so I guess they are excited but not even asking if I’m cool with visitors is just too much rn.

Response:
I appreciate the excitement about meeting the new babies. But I won’t feel ready to receive visitors until we are all settled. Thank you so much for understanding and respecting our family.

I don’t have a good response but stick to your guns. My in laws invited themselves after every baby and I hated every second of it. I’m still bitter my newborn bliss was interrupted by guests who I had to cook and clean for being freshly postpartum. Maybe saying something like
“That’s so sweet of you to offer! We won’t be ready for guests at that point but I’ll let you know when we are.”

I say text and call them to not come for 2 months , some people just want to play with a baby and they don’t want to actually help a mom out. As a mom of a 1 year old I’ve learned who my village is .
