I need help and thoughts. I’m a first time mom, I’m married. I love my husband and I know he loves me and my son. But I feel like he doesn’t think!! Like he will watch our boy and feed him etc but my problem is that it’s like he doesn’t know what to do, he just sits and watches tv with him maybe like 95% of the time. And he’s not far from the tv… I’ve told him several times I don’t want my baby so close to the tv but he keeps doing it..
Experienced moms, or anyone with research under their belt… this is not good for the baby right? He’s 5 months old. I don’t want him sat up in front of the tv watching or seeing adult shows or video games..

Mom of 2 with a degree in neuroscience. Absolutely horrible for their brain ESPECIALLY if they’re watching adult shows.

Babies shouldn't have screens at all. Not even baby shows. I would show him some of the science of why it's terrible and help him to understand that long term your going to have a tougher kid on your hands if you don't put in work to help them enjoy playing and engaging with real life

I agree with the other mamas...try doing some research and sending him the information on the effects it will have on your baby.
As for him not thinking, it's because he's a man. Sorry...I wish I had an answer or solution, but I've accepted that I will do 90% of the thinking and planning when it comes to our family(we have 2.5 yr old and a 5mo old). I often write an itinerary for what to do at what time when I leave for work on the weekends, otherwise he may forget to feed our toddler who won't say he's hungry, and to give him activity options instead of so much TV.
Good luck mama! Maybe encourage him to take baby on a walk in the stroller and listen to classical music, relaxing and great for baby's brain development
