How to settle night wakings without feeding

My EBF baby responds very well to feeds overnight to fall straight back asleep after waking. I’m conscious this isn’t a long term solution and we need a way of settling him without feeding.

He won’t take a dummy, patting/ hand on chest/shushing etc in crib doesn’t settle him. If I get him out of his crib he’s still distressed and I have to walk around with him for a long time and often still end up needing to feed him to get him back to sleep.

It’s especially hard at night as i also need my sleep and it’s far easier and quicker to quick feed and back to sleep.

Any advice on how I can settle overnight without the feeds?

Feeding to sleep is biologically normal, the fastest way to get them back to sleep (milk literally has hormones in it that help you both sleep) and your baby is so tiny they should be offered milk when waking. If you’re doing all that and baby won’t settle, they’re hungry.

Two EBF babies, boob is your power overnight! Co-sleep and baby can feed back to sleep with you barely waking. You’ll learn to sleep through their wakes as they get a bit older. It’s absolutely a long term solution! You’ve said yourself it’s quicker and easier to feed back to sleep so why do you want to make your life more difficult? x

You should not restrict feeds over night under 1 year old. At 3 months it's really important baby feeds as often as they are wanting it.

At 3 months old you should just be feeding them overnight.

If nothing else settles your baby overnight, they’re hungry. Most babies feed overnight still at that age. My girl is 2 months and I’ll put a dummy in or shush her, 90% of the time she fall back asleep, if she doesn’t, I’ll feed because she’s clearly hungry

Boy problems

Tracker

As a PP mum I find tracking symptoms and trying too prove to the doctors exactly how I am feeling! I’m not alone am I?

If there was a one stop shop to track all your postpartum symptoms from getting your period back or just tracking your mood on a daily wouldn’t that be easier!

what else would you like to track? Give me your ideas and suggestions on what you would track if you had the ability to put it into one place.

Milk supply

Please tell me your positive supply stories and things that actually helped. Currently 6 weeks PP. Seeing results with regular pumping (5 per 24 hours) and Domperidone but still a long way off full supply, hoping there’s still a chance to keep increasing output.

barefoot shoes not ugly in uk?

can anyone recommend some NOT ugly barefoot shoes for toddlers in the uk? i’d prefer my daughter to be in barefoot shoes until she’s old enough to ask me for other shoes she wants, however her feet have always been long and she’s quickly outgrowing her other barefoot shoes. i love the look of the duckies shoes but the biggest size they do is a size 6 if i’m not wrong? which is the size my daughter is currently in so no point buying those but the barefoot trainers in my opinion look awful with all the different colours on them🤣🤣

Baby carrier for 3 month old

I’m looking for a baby carrier more like a wrap my little one loves to be close and watching what I’m doing and would work so well for me just wanting to know if a wrap is safe and suitable instead of the proper carriers which I have :)
